Chapter-9

Zander's POV

Two days before Merideth's humiliation(or whatever you call it)

I was waiting for Kassie to arrive. I was in one of Kassie's exclusive hotels. It was really impressive with good service but not like Niarchos'. There were many things lacking which I did not like. I usually bring Kassie to one of my hotels but today I came here because Kassie insisted me to come here and give my opinion to her about it. I also wanted to establish friendly relations with Kassie's family (although there is enough already) for business purposes. Well, I was on a friendly date with Kassie.

"Sorry to keep you waiting" said Kassie cheerfully as she approached me. I smiled. "You look cute today" I said pulling her cheeks. This is how I always irritate her. But today, instead of yelling and slapping my hands away, she just smiled at me. "Hey, are you ok?" I asked. "Yeah! I'm ok" she said casually. For a few minutes we talked about casual things. She was telling me all the funny experiences she had when she was in France and I was sharing my experiences of Brazil. We usually didn't use to talk about vacations and business trips but today there was something in the way she was acting as she blabbered on and on about France and her French cousins. Then after that, there was a abrupt silence between us. "I have something to tell you" she said seriously after a few moments of silence. I nodded, encouraging her to go on. She just fumbled with the menu, called the waiter and gave our orders. After 10 minutes of silence I asked her "Are you going to tell me or not!?"in a frustrated way. "It's just that I heard false rumors about you. And the person who started it was Meredith Grand" she said , looking at me nervously. I wasn't expecting that. "What kind of rumors?" I asked in an unconcerned manner. "You wouldn't want to hear that" she said with that same nervous expression. "Ugh! Why are you acting so nervous today!? And why are you going in circles and keeping me waiting instead of telling me what I want?" I asked really frustratedly.

"Ok, fine. That b*tch is spreading rumors about you. I heard her say ,to everyone who would listen, that you were a hardcore playboy who treats girls like tissue papers. That you don't deserve Ellie at all. You are just using Ellie. You don't love Ellie at all. Well, these are only a little portion of what she said. She was saying far worse things and ruining your relationship with everyone else. She also said something about us"

"Are you sure?" I asked with a puzzled expression. "You don't trust me?"asked Kassie  indignantly. " 'Course I do. But what Meredith said was true. Well, I am a playboy and I'm actually using Ellie " I said with a smile. Kassie looked at me as if I were the craziest person she had ever seen. "But that doesn't mean that b*tch can spread rumors about me! I haven't felt this angry for days. So it's revenge time Kassie " I said pulling her close to me. She looked at me with wide eyes. "Bu...but...ho....how?"she stuttered. What the hell happened to her? She was never like this before. "When you want revenge then nothing's better than a public humiliation. So we'll wait for the perfect opportunity ,of course " I said slyly.

After she passed out

Meredith's POV

"She's opening her eyes" I heard someone whisper. "Shhhh. Let her sleep " I heard another voice whisper. I felt really tired, like I hadn't slept for days.  I couldn't understand why I was sleeping in a really comfortable bed instead of attending the classes. I opened my eyes slowly.

"Are you ok, sweetie?"asked the school nurse. "I'm fine" I replied, sitting straight in the bed. After that the nurse started explaining me why I had fainted and what kind of weakness I had. After she took my temperature and gave me some hot chocolate (yeah, hot chocolate is very common here), I saw my friends sitting on the couch. As soon as the nurse went to her office, Becca stood up and came towards me. "Are you ok?"she asked with a worried expression. "I'm fine. But who brought me here?" I asked. "I did" said Sebastian Samuel from a corner. I could not hide my embarrassment. So he was the one who carried me here? I was blushing furiously when Becca said "Oh my God, Meri. Try to rest ok? You're flushing red". I could see the mischievous smile on her face. "You carried me here?" I asked Sebastian. "Of course stupid. How would I bring you here without carrying you?"asked Sebastian as he rolled his eyes. "Anyways, you're speech was great. Just ignore my cousin...."began Joseph but his voice trailed off when I glared at him and said "I don't want to talk about him". "Of course, of course" said Joseph with an awkward laugh.

"How long was I unconscious?" I asked trying to look at the clock in the infirmary. "Well, the nurse said you were unconscious for only 20 minutes. The rest of the time you were asleep" said Becca. "And how long was I asleep?" I asked nervously. "More than an hour " said Sebastian grimly. An hour? I jumped from the bed , grabbed my bag but the nurse didn't let me go. She assured me that some of my friends had already taken notes for me from all three periods I missed and I didn't need to worry about anything. So I had nothing to do but to sip the hot chocolate and lean back comfortably as my friends went to attend their classes.

Why is Zander acting like this all of a sudden? What have I ever done to him? Even though he's a biggest jerk in the world,I thought he was a friend. Well, now that he knows I won't help him with Ellie, I guess he'll take a move on her very soon.

These random and stupid thoughts came across my mind as I sipped my hot chocolate and idly watched seniors play soccer from the window.
