Chapter-5

Tutoring the bully

Meredith's POV

I usually wake up early during Saturdays. But today I took my time and finally woke up at 7:45 in the morning. I realized that I had to tutor Zander after 10. I lazily woke up and did daily activities. After that I revised all the homeworks and everything that was taught this week. It was a really boring job but I was forced to do it for the sake of my scholarship. It was already 9:45. I quickly chose a random outfit for today and got into it. I made a little bit effort with my hair though. I was done in only 5 minutes. I went downstairs and sat lazily re-reading Harrry Potter. I have read the Harry Potter series  for like 27 times already. I just can't get enough of it. And as I always do, I lost track of time and kept on reading. I had finished reading 13 chapters of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.

When I finally looked up from the book, I panicked. It was already 10:30! I grabbed my jacket and ran outside. Just as I was running down the neighborhood looking for a cab, I saw a familiar black Mercedes driving down the path. It stopped right beside me and an angry Zander pulled the window down. "You're late. So late, Grand. When I said after 10, I meant 10:05 not 10:45" he hissed. "I'm not paid for this job. So I can come whenever I like" I replied. "But I don't think Mr. Barners would like that" he said, his smirk replacing his angry face.

"Does it look like I care?Wait, I'll just find a cab and go to your mansion. You go" I said looking around for cabs. "You're not going anywhere. Just GET IN!"he yelled. "I won't " I replied. Why should I always obey him and do as he says? No matter how much manipulative he is, he could never control me. "Get in or I'll drag you" he said. "Try me" I replied looking at him dangerously. After that he did nothing. He didn't speak, yell, he just opened the passenger door of his car. I also didn't move. For two minutes we stayed like that. Finally I realized that I was being childish again. It was just a ride anyways. And I knew I looked really weird standing in front of the open door but not getting in. So I hopped into the passenger seat and slammed the car door. "Ouch! It's my new car. I recently got the license" he said. I just rolled my eyes. Zander played the radio. Zedd and Alessia Cara's song 'Stay' was playing. It was one of my favorite songs so I couldn't control myself. I was nodding to the beat and singing. Zander looked at me and gave a flirtatious smile. I ignored him as always.

The rest of the journey was very quiet. We didn't speak a word. Finally we reached Zander's mansion. The gates opened automatically and it was a really grand mansion with two swimming pools, a gymnasium and an equally grand and modern interior. It was simply breathtaking. His bodyguard came to receive us. Seriously, Zander even had a bodyguard . Zander took me to his room without even showing me around. His room was probably bigger than my whole flat. It was so elegant and modern . This jerk didn't deserve this room. There was all sorts goodies and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies that made my mouth water.

"Shall we start?"the jerk asked. "Sure" I replied. Zander wasn't that bad in chemistry. He just didn't pay attention in class. I taught him with patience and he was perfect within an hour."So this is how we do it?"he asked. "Yeah just do....like this.....you get it right?" I asked. " 'Course it's too easy. So only this much is taught until now?"he asked. "Yup! It's really easy. You're good at this. The only problem is you don't pay attention " I yelled. "I'll pay attention from now. Hey! I'm weak in trigonometry. Can you teach me?"he asked me guiltily . "Course! Is that a question to ask " I replied as I kept my trigonometry books on the table.

He really was very weak in trigonometry. I had a really hard time teaching him. He didn't even know the formulae. "You're doing it wrong, Zander! Again!" I yelled. After 3 hours I finally finished teaching him all the things that were taught since school started. "Good. Now I'll take your test next week and you can take mine. If either of us can't solve more than two questions, we can give orders to each other" I said. I really needed to make my classes interesting. He seemed happy. "If you made a mistake in more than two questions then I can order you? Like anything?"he asked. "Yup! Except being naked and the things we can't afford financially " I replied. "Sure" he agreed. It was time for rest so we were talking casually.

"How did you get a driving license? I'm still young for that. Even though we all have to spend a year in another high school before coming to Florecent " I said. "I already had my sweet sixteen last month. I started school kinda late" he replied. He got a Mercedes as a gift? Wow. "Do you live alone here? I don't see your parents " I said. "That's none of your business " he said coldly. This is what I get for spending four hours for tutoring someone. "I should get going then. I have lots of works to do and it's already 4:30" I said coldly. "No wait. There's something I have to tell you, Meri" he said looking at me guiltily. "Yeah! But don't tell me you....." I was interrupted by what he said next.

"I......I.......I really like Ellie".
