"Hey! Get out of my way you fat slut!"  Alicia's self esteem was never very high, but then, who could blame her? At work, her employees hated her, and at school, well that's a whole other issue.
The only positive influence in her life was her mother. Alicia could never have a low self esteem around her. Filled with wisdom, her mother always knew what to say.
"I just want to be beautiful."
           "And what does beautiful mean?"
"You know, sharp facial features, and a skinny body, and-"
"Many would say flawless skin, full lips, or a very curvaceous body, like you have. I hate the word beautiful. It makes so many young girls hate themselves. You know how many girls envy you; how many put plastic in their bodies to have the body you do?"
It was Saturday night, and outside was a winter wonderland. The fire was burning, and the flames danced to the music filling Alicia's small apartment.
Her apartment had 5 rugged rooms. The living room, which was the main room and had the kitchen attached,  her bedroom, against the back wall, the bathroom, just big enough to fit a sink, mirror, shower, and toilet, a guest bedroom, and an extra room which held the washer and dryer in it, along with everything she put in "storage."
She sat on her couch, dazed and distracted by her thoughts.  Clicking a pen, she tried to figure out her next adventure for her duo Charles and Mungo.
" What if Charles invented a doll that played hide and seek with you called peek-a-boo Betsy? But then it went rogue and started "playing" with everyone? And the duo had to chase after it?.... Ok.... Maybe not. That could turn the comedy series into horror way too quickly."
Nothing came to mind. After 20 minutes of simply sitting there and exploring every idea she could think of in detail, they seemed either bad, or a bit too messed up for the duo.
Finally, she gave up. Tired and frustrated, Alicia made herself some hot chocolate and went to bed, forgetting to put out the fire.
