To Charles Beauregard III,
It's strange for a creator to be asking her creation for advice, and if you truly were here, you'd lecture me simply about life. I think that's what I'm hoping for. I found you in a forest near a river with my best friend, whom the world now knows as Alicia. I remember picking you up, and for some reason you didn't seem scared. That was a powerful thing to us. We were in a place where fear seemed to escort us to school everyday and then to bed every night. In that forest, it seems, fear had been banished. We became two little girls innocently playing in the world of magic.
I need that sort of help again. I'm about to head off to college, and I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to be and what I wanted to study, but now I'm not so sure. My father suggested I take a year off and simply focused on what I love: writing. In a twist of fate, my friends are suggesting I go to college straight away. There must be no time to waste! I need a secure job!
I look to you because you are what the world calls childish. You look at the facts and remain with a positive outlook on life. You would never send me down a dead-end path just to chase my dreams, but I know you hold strongly to the belief anything is possible with hard work. Thank you for existing.
