"...One would think someone of your stature would own at least a ring if not dripping in jewels and beautiful fabrics." It was a long and silent 5 minutes before Madeia spoke.
"Hm? My-my stature?"
"...then you aren't her? You couldn't have said something before? I knew the old witch was crazy."
"Wait, wait. What do you mean? Who were you expecting?"
"..."Madeia took a breathe and a look out her window, turning back to Alicia and sighing again.
"..."
"For the first time in months, my grandmother woke up. She was blabbering on about the return of the runaway royal; The one who was suppose to grow to be our queen; how she had finally came back to reclaim her place on the thrown.
"I don't know why I believed it. Maybe I just thought I'd finally see something worth seeing in this age."
"Who is the runaway princess?"
"She was a small girl, who ran away and never came back. It's said she went to another world. One that moved much slower than ours. Many have claimed to have gone in that world, but then, they also claimed the leaves change colors in that world. How absurd."
Alicia held back a laugh as deja Vu hit her.
"Where do you come from anyway, miss...."
"Just call me Alicia. My name is Alicia. I come from a very far away land that's.... Strange, or would be, for you."
"Oh please, I've seen many, many things you would not believe. There's nearly nothing you can tell me that will shock me."
"How about machines that can easily go twice as fast as a horse?"
"Perhaps with the help of alchemy."
"Nope. One that was built to do so, and does so successfully without any help from anything else."
"That doesn't exist." Madeia seemed to be getting noticably more irritated and an accent was starting to come out.
"Yes it does." Charles retorted seemingly unable to hold his tongue any longer.
"You two are just playing. Games are over. I want to know what your world actually has."
"I told you. It's not my fault you don't believe me."
"That's because I wasn't born yesterday."
"Then you should believe me."
"Then how come your kingdom didn't sell this invention off and become well known throughout the world?"
"That's just how far it is from your world."
"That's great, but come tell me when you decide to stop acting like an imbecile and tell the truth lying little street rat."
Alicia tried not to show her anger and hurt at Madeia's words, but it was written on her face as plain as writing on paper. Even Madeia almost felt remorse for her words.
She sighed almost of annoyance. "I'm sure if a kingdom with that technology did exist, you'd be the one leading it."
"I-I wouldn't make a very good leader. I'm not wise, or smart, and it would be disappointing to have a queen that looked like me. I probably wouldn't be able to seduce the town beggar." Alicia spoke with an unsteady voice as she tried to force a joke and a laugh.
"Excuse me? Look like what?"
"I'd like to hear this myself." Charles agreed.
"Well, like...me. It would be disappointing to have a queen that looked... This... Ugly..."Alicia's voice shrank with every word. She knew it would piss off Charles, and it did.
"CHILD, YOU AGGRAVATE ME!" He suddenly blared out.
Madeia did the opposite, laughing the moment she heard the word come out of Alicia's mouth. "You got one thing right. You're so incredibly stupid. Firstly, what exactly is wrong with your looks? You are wearing such mediocre clothes and you still look beautiful while managing to look like everyone else. That alone would make you the perfect queen because people can relate to you. Secondly, woman's greatest power isn't beauty, or wisdom or even brains, it's the ability to tame the ferocious rage-filled greedy beast inside man with nothing more than her eyes and gentle touch, and that alone has nothing to do with seduction.
"You should be glad you don't have that weapon. It's cruel and evil and so unnecessary. It doesn't have nearly half the power you are born with. Women who waste their time with it are the true fools that make me laugh. I'd rather spend time with a man who finds me sexy without me trying than wear uncomfortable clothes trying to impress the common rat whom seems like every other filthy creature to me."
