"Well, isn't this just marvelous." Under the blanket of night, under the trees, under a leaf, sat Charles.
While the scare had been intense, it seemed to be no reason to forget about a friend, and run off with the three bears.
"Now were did the loud one say the house was? Over the hill? It'll take me a while before I can even find a place to rest." He looked around, spinning in a circle, but only found a bird's nest, whom he was was sure wouldn't be very interested in sharing.
"And of course they are the one group of kids who isn't interested in taking home a 'pet.' Of all the times..." He trailed off as he saw a sugar bear glide his way. "Excuse me! Excuse me. Sir, would you-"
"Can't I'm busy." The sugar bear appeared to be nervously pacing.
      "But if you'd just-"
      "No can do."
"Sir just a minute of your time-"
"Look pal, I told my wife I'd have a great anniversary gift, and then forgot. So whatever problem you've got, Mine's worst. You ever seen a female 'glider pissed?"
"Yes. You ever seen a female snail pissed at you? She could go from last place to setting a new record if you're at the end."
"Found you, Donald! It's nearly sunset, and I still haven't seen a gem from you. I made you a feast for breakfast, and gave you a new watch. You forgot didn't you?" The sugar glider came in, causing a scene, and tearing up. " After years you still can't remember. I'm sorry I'm not important enough."
With quick thinking, Charles got her attention. "Ah, you must be the Mrs. It seems your husband forgot to give you the directions. Well, no matter; now the mystery game can begin."
The female's eyes lit up with excitement, and she turned around to embrace her husband before stopping herself. "Well, I can't have you referring to me as 'the Mrs.' the whole time. My name is Diane. Now what was this talk about a murder mystery game?"
"Yes, well, your husband has paid for a personal mystery detective adventure. First thing to know is the storyline. Now, do you know of any housing that's supposed to be over that hill?"
"Of course. Everyone knows of the Stiege legend. The castle is supposed to be haunted with every ancestor to ever live in there."
"What if I told you, that on this once in a lifetime mystery adventure, you get to go inside there and be a hero to a human girl, 'detective?'"
Now, she was shivering with excitement.
"I'd tell you to tell me the details of the case."
"Well, ma'am. It went something like this: I was walking along the path, with my friend, Alicia, when we were ambushed by the three kiddie bandits! I've seen the papers, and I know they are quite known and dangerous. Before I know it, I'm thrown to the ground, and they've kidnapped my friend! They were talking about their hideout 'over the hill' and snickering about the big bounty they'll get. Please save my friend, please!"
"Ooh, this is fun! Um... Ok, don't fear citizen; we'll get your friend back."
They took an hour to get there, but when they did, Charles felt oddly satisfied.
"Now, normally this isn't a two day event, but since it's so late, let's rest here.
