"Clean yourself up." I heard and saw HIM crouched on the desk across the room. He threw me a damp cloth. Slowly I picked it up off my lap watching him remembering faintly the red eyes looking at me. Now his eyes were blue but still I saw the red behind them shining.

"Why?" I asked. He raised an eyebrow but other than that movement he stayed still. It seemed that he was frozen at that spot.

"Most people would thank someone who had just saved their life." His words were brittle like he wasn't use to talking to people. But then I knew he spoke to John and he seemed more relaxed then.

"Thank you..." I said tersely feeling slightly annoyed for some reason. "Why?" And now that my mind was working and I was warm. "And by the way how did you jump down a twelve foot hole and then jump with me in your arms and why do you wear those contacts when I already saw the colour of your eyes?" I said it all in one breath making me gasp for air after I was finished.

"You're imagination is impressive." He said but didn't move or take his eyes away from mine. I couldn't help but get the feeling he was forcing himself not to come closer.

I shrugged finishing getting every spot of blood off my face and head that I could and instead of throwing it back at him which was I wanted to do. I put it on the table beside me. "If that's the way you want to play it. Now Sasha's father is probably looking for me I don't think him finding me with you will be good for you."

The corner of his mouth twitched like I had just told a joke. "And why is that?"

I was sure now that he had red eyes because the blue was almost fading. It made him seem very intimidating. "Because of what he thinks....knows you are." I said trying to keep the upper hand. His movements were fast and almost invisible as he got down taking only a single step towards me a cold malicious smile touched his lips.

"What exactly is that?"

If I hadn't seen his eyes or felt him jump out of the hole or felt that there was something different about him there was no way I would have ever believed it. Then there was the voice. His voice. The voice that was in my head yesterday. "Vampire." The word sounded silly. Like some movie damsel who falls in love with the tragic character. I wasn't that damsel.

He laughed darkly walking to the door of the room which was wall to wall windows but had its shades pulled so it was like a cloudy day inside. "Amusing theory. But I had a rope and pulley system to get you out of that crevice. You were so out of it that you imagined the rest." In that moment there was a threatening under tone to his body movements. "Besides if I was a vampire why would you still be alive?"

I bit my lip staving off the cold pit of fear that was starting again. "I haven't figured that part out yet." He laughed bitterly. "But I will. Oh and thank you for saving me from that bear too. And why?"

His mask of indifference cracked and his brows crunched together as he turned to look at me. "If you want to thank me then leave me alone." He opened the door and slammed it shut behind him. Ok normal people would leave. Not me though. I got up slowly testing my balance. I passed a mirror as I walked towards the door and checked that I got all the blood off. My hair was sticking out everywhere and there was a stick that was tangled in the long tendrils of my dirty blond mop catching my shirt poking a small hole in it.
