Annabeth's P.O.V. (I'm gonna do her P.O.V. until they go onto the truck)
As we headed to Denver I and Percy were awake while Grover was asleep once in a while they had to adjust his hat or shoes so people wouldn't see his horns or hooves. Percy was looking outside and I just looked at him and his sea green eyes, he was annoying but he reminded me of Thalia when she was alive, he then looked at me and I looked away blushing.
"OK, you just can't expect me not to ask you why you were looking at me when you are blushing and hiding your face," he said
"I'm not blushing and I was looking at you because you remind me of my friend Thalia"
"Oh, if you don't mind me asking but what happened to her that turned her into a pine tree," he said cautiously, I hope I don't break down
"It happened when I was 7, Grover was leading us towards Camp Half-Blood but there were a lot of monsters behind us when we got to Half-Blood Hill I twisted my ankle and Luke picked me up I was screaming and crying while pounding on his chest but he continued to run when we were across the border I looked back and saw Thalia she was on the ground the grass around her was red and I knew she was going to die but it was hard. With one final stand she protected me and Luke, Zeus then turned her into a pine tree and magical borders were established so that no other demigod would suffer the same fate" I said towards the end I started crying and I looked away
"I'm so sorry, why don't you go to sleep and I'll wake you up if were at Denver, ok?" he said it with concern, I nodded and before I knew it he woke me up
"We're here" he said, I sat up and saw Grover getting his backpack when we got out of the train station we decided to get food so we went to this dinner, when the food was brought a huge guy with a motorcycle came and when he sat at the table I began to feel angry, that's when I realized the man was the god of war Lord Ares.
"I'll pay for this," he said to the waitress, Percy then spoke up
"Who are you," he said this with a little too much attitude and I tried to tell him but Ares help his hand up and told me it was ok
"Your my Uncle's kid, you don't look like much" Ares said, Percy simply said
"I don't care what your expectations of me are all I care about right now is why you are here?"
"Oh that's easy I want you to get my shield for me, you see I was on a date with Aphrodite and when we left I forgot it," he said I could tell Percy was getting angry because of Ares's aura so I spoke for him
"Of course Lord Ares where did you leave it?" I said
"Ah my sister's child, it's located at Waterland look for the Tunnel of Love, it's about a block away," he said and with that, he gave the lady a drachma and told her to take it and he left
"Well looks like we have a side quest," I said
"Let's get going please so we can get it over please" Percy whined
"Fine, and by the way, you look like a baby seal," she said and the laughed
