I threw down my pencil in frustration. Why couldn't I stop thinking about him! I growled. I glanced out the window in hopes to soothe the tension. Nope.
The rain was sprinkling, but just enough to be depressing. I sighed. Time for a break. Never mind that I'd only been working for 5 minutes. It's always time for a break. Hm breaks. Kit Kat. Dammit I want KitKats now.
I growled again. I jumped when something hit my window. I slowly looked out the window, frightened. Nothing...? I frowned curiously.
"Hmmm"
I stood and looked down into the yard below. Little white ice chunks littered the ground. Hail. I sighed, again. The cars would probably get damaged if it got any worse. I turned back to the computer when the power decided it'd be a good idea to go out. Being the paranoid girl I was, I screamed.
Since it was gray outside and I preferred not to be right next to a breakable window, I wandered blindly into the hallway. Isn't there a flashlight around here somewhere?
I scrunched my forehead in thought as I dropped to my hands and knees. Blindly waving my hands around, I searched for a.... something. My fingers brushed cold metal and I wrapped my fingers around the flashlight.
Standing back up, I found the button and clicked it on. The beam illuminated my fathers drunken face, not even a foot from mine. I screamed again and dropped the flashlight with a clatter. I stepped back, startled and scared.
"What'da screeching for?" He growled.
I stuttered and he silenced me with a glare.
"Why did you drop the damn flashlight?" He growled again. Stooping, he picked it up and swung it.
"I - I'm sorry dad.." He glared and swung the metal flashlight at me. It hit my cheek with a sickening crack. Tasting blood, my hand flew up to my tender face. Tears stung my eyes and I stumbled back. He swung at me again.
This time, it caught me right behind the ear, because I twisted in a useless effort to dodge. My limited vision swam as I fought to regain my breath. John grumbled and turned, taking the flashlight with him.
I curled up, tears streaming down my face. I stayed there until my ears stopped screaming, listening to the unrelenting hail slam into the house.
I need to get out of here... but where will I go? Castiel..? Lucifer..? They'll help... Right? I-I cant think like that...
I pushed myself up, my body screaming in protest. I grabbed my emergency bag and stumbled out the front door. Hail splattered into my arms and head.
Running down the street, my feet splashed puddles, soaking my pants. My legs groaned but I had to continue.
Left turn,
right turn,
left,
right,
right,
left.
I turned onto a semi familiar street, hail slamming into my front, back, sides and shoulders. I gasped as I came to a stop at the door. I weakly slammed my hand into the door.
Again.
Nothing.
The hail must be drowning out my efforts. I drew my leg back and delivered a hefty kick to the door. I couldn't take it any more. I crumbled to the ground, hitting my head.
As I allowed the darkness to finally overwhelm me, the door cracked open.
