"What happened in there?" Noah asked me after we'd snuck out that night. I sighed. "It doesn't matter, Noah."
"Something happened and as your best friend I demand to know."
"You're not gonna give up, are you?"
"Nope."
"I snapped. That man had her pinned to the floor and I shot him twice in the leg and then I punched him a lot. She had to stop me."
"You needed to lose some anger, I get it. You're upset over Millie and Finn and Jack and the King. Maybe even about Dave. It's completely normal, Sadie."
"Thank you, Noah, you're the best brother ever."
He smirked. "Really am, aren't I?" I shoved him lightly but it didn't even seem to move him. "Just go to sleep, Noah."
"Why did we even sneak out? We share a room."
"Because the air is clean out here." Also you sleep out here I added in my head. He sat down on the grass, pulling my legs out from under me a second later. I caught myself with my arms and laid down a few feet from him. "Just go to sleep, okay?"
"Okay." He said, turning around and away from me.

I woke up at dawn and looked over to Noah, who was asleep. I picked him up and carried him into our room. I walked back into the hallway to ask Gaten to keep it down when I heard a loud laugh from Millie's room. I walked in quietly, shocking Millie and Finn. "Noah was asleep but he may not be anymore. So thanks." I snapped at them walking out furiously. I walked back to our room and found Noah sitting up, staring at the wall. "Are you okay?" He looked up at me with tear streaks down his face. "No." I closed the door and sat down on his bed, next to him. "What happened?"
"Do you remember when we were twelve. The night before we ran I had a dream about Jenny dying. She did the next day." I nodded, remembering the chilling details of the dream and the day that followed. "You're gonna die, Sadie." He said, inhaling shakily. "I won't, Noah."
"Then why did I have that dream? They might know where you are. I can't protect you from this."
"Noah," I started, pulling him to my side with my arm around him, "I'll be fine. I promise. I don't plan on dying."
"Neither did Jenny." He was still crying. "She did, Noah. She only went with us because she liked you. She only went with us to keep you safe."
"What?" He looked up, looking me in the eyes. I slid off the bed and kneeled in front of him, taking his face in my hands, wiping his tears. "She'd been planning her suicide for weeks but didn't want her death to be meaningless." Right at that moment we were called by Gaten. "Want me to bring you your breakfast?" Noah nodded. "Okay, three slices?"
"Yes." He said, his voice cracking.

"Noah isn't feeling too well, I'll bring him breakfast." I announced, eating my own breakfast. "Well at least let me take a look at him." Finn said. "He doesn't need a medic, he needs sleep. But that didn't exactly work out, did it, Wolfhard?" Gaten and Caleb just looked back and forth between us while Millie put a hand on Finn's arm to hold him back if necessary. "Listen, we said we're sorry, what more do you want?"
Your girlfriend.
"I want you to stop getting on my nerves, Devon."
Everyone gasped. "Too bad, Captain Sink." Gaten gasped even louder than before while Millie just looked utterly confused. "You and me, outside, basic hand-to-hand." I said, walking back to my room with Noah's breakfast. He looked up when I walked in. He looked a lot better and you couldn't see he'd been crying anymore. "Whoa, Sadie, what's up with you?"
"Hand-to-hand with Finn in a few."
"What did you do?"
"How is it my fault?"
"It isn't. Let me eat this real quick so I can have your back out there." What did I ever do to deserve him. "Okay, I gotta put on some yoga pants and a tee, so if you could move so I can reach the closet, that'd be great." He moved over and I quickly changed. "Okay, let's go." I said, putting my red hair in a ponytail.

We walked outside and I could see Millie and Finn arguing while Caleb and Gaten looked really worried. "Okay, you two know the rules." Noah said, beckoning Finn and I over. "Shoes off." We both took off our shoes. "All weapons to Gaten." I pulled the three knives I always had on me out of places guys could only dream of reaching. "No hair-pulling, no threatening of loved ones, first one unconscious loses."
"What are we fighting for?" Finn asked Noah, not breaking eye contact with me. "You're fighting for the usual: Finn's bomber jacket and Sadie's copy of the Hobbit." We both nodded as Noah stepped back, pulling Millie back with him.

"Fight!" He yelled and I jumped forward. I knew Finn's fighting style very well but changed my own frequently. I pretended to aim for his chest so we would defend that while really going for his legs. I pulled them out from under him, a trick that reminded me of Noah doing the same to me the previous night. He was on the ground and I got in five punches to his face and chest before he managed to throw me off and changed the positions so he was the one punching me. I took a hit to the face and felt the skin on my cheek break. I pushed him off and he stood up while I stayed on the ground. I moved around smoothly and got three kicks in before I decided to try and tackle him again. I attacked his legs again but this time he managed to avoid falling. Perfect. I went for his arms with my hands while kicking his back, causing him extreme pain as he had a weak back. He yelled in pain and I could hear Millie make a small noise. I stopped. "Sadie, what are you doing?!" Noah yelled as Finn grabbed me by the front of the shirt and punched me multiple times. I just smiled at Finn. I suddenly jumped up and did a trick I had never done before but I knew how to do. I jumped and wrapped my legs around his neck, surprising everyone, mostly myself, and used my own weight to get him to the ground. I ended up sitting on his chest and I punched him ten more times before hitting the side of his head, knocking him out cold.
