It took me over an hour to get back to the house. I silently thanked god that Millie and Finn weren't outside anymore and kicked open the door. I usually silently opened the door so I was immediately knocked down by Noah, dropping Dave to the ground. "Noah, Jesus, calm down."
"Who's this?" He asked, eyeing up the man. "He's looking for Millie. Somehow her uncle knew where to find her and sent this guy to get her."
"How well did you knock him out?"
"Should be up in a few, it's been over an hour."
"Well let's get him to the living room. We were just planning on getting you back."
"After two hours."
"You needed some time to cool down, Sadie, I knew that."
"Thank you, I did."
Noah picked Dave up like he weighed nothing and carried him into the living room, yelling "Guess what Sadie found."
"Sadie's back?" I smiled while closing the door. God bless Gaten. "Yea I am." I said, walking into the living room and quickly scanning the room. Dave was on the couch and Millie, Gaten, and Finn were sitting in front of it, obviously having slid off to make room for the unconscious man. Finn and Millie were holding hands and Caleb and Gaten shot me a look. "You," Caleb started, pointing at me, "have some stuff to explain."
"Okay. So I ran for a while for... reasons... and I ended up in this clearing and I fell asleep. I woke up because I heard footsteps so I pulled a knife and hid..."
I explained everything to them while they stayed silent. Millie's eyes had lit up when I told her it was her uncle who'd sent him but Finn's eyebrows furrowed as I mentioned that he knew where Mills was. "And then I got home." I concluded my story, looking at the guy on the couch who seemed to slowly be gaining consciousness. "I think he's waking up." I said, moving over to the couch and practically shoving Finn in the process. Dave opened his eyes and looked me in the face. "Morning, Sleeping Beauty." I said, grinning down at him with my knife, once again, in my hand. I heard a sound from behind me that meant Noah was also armed and ready to attack. "Time for you to talk."
"I-I don't know anything..."
"Bullshit." Finn spat, an arm protectively wrapped around Millie's shoulders. "I really don't, I was told to be where I was and search from there." I put the knife against his throat again but Millie grabbed my arm and pulled me back. I couldn't say no to her so I joined Noah in the corner. All my muscles tense and ready to attack. Millie sat in front of Dave. "You said Matthew sent you?"
"Yes, he's my boss, are you Millie?"
"Yeah I am."
"He was right, you're a very pretty girl."
Finn tensed up and dug his nails into the man's leg slightly. "She's also way too young for you." He growled. "I didn't mean it like that." Finn still didn't seem to trust him and I agreed with him. "How did uncle Matthew know where to find me?" Millie asked, pulling the attention from Finn to herself. "He'd been here before and told me he'd seen some kids. Later he recognized them as," he looked at the ceiling, trying to remember, "Matarazzo and Schnapp." Gaten looked up and at Noah, raising his eyebrows. "I haven't been to the woods in over two years." Gaten said, remembering the last time he did and he nearly died. "He said it was a while ago."
"Well how do we know he actually sent you and it wasn't say, the King?" Caleb finally added to the conversation. "Paladin." Millie shot up at the word. "Mills, what's that mean?" Finn asked, looking at her with a worried expression on his face. "It's the word my family had agreed on to use to show that it was really us. My parents knew they were gonna die so they took a lot of precautions."
"So he's actually telling the truth?" Noah asked, still a firm grip on his knife. Millie nodded and Dave sat up on the couch. After a minute he spoke up. "Millie, grab your stuff, your uncle asked me to bring you home." All our eyes widened. The nerve that guy had. "No." She said quietly, looking at the ground. "Don't you want to see your family again?"
"They need me here and I need them. I'm home with these people. They basically are my family."
"They're criminals, Sadie nearly killed me."
In less than a second Noah had punched him in the face. "Anything else to say about her?" He said, holding up his knife. Dave shook his head. Noah pulled him up by his shirt. "Caleb," Noah spoke, not breaking eye contact with Dave, "blindfold him and drop him somewhere, I don't care where." Caleb saluted and grabbed the blindfold I'd put on him earlier. He tightly blindfolded him and shoved him out of the house and into the van. Noah stormed into his bedroom and I followed him, wanting to be there for my friend. "Thank you for that." I said, leaning against the door. "You're welcome, he shouldn't've insulted you."
"He just called me a criminal, he had a point."
"Sadie, we are not voluntarily mass murderers. It's not our fault."
"I know, Noah. I know."
"Remember it, Sadie. I don't wanna lose you to yourself. All we have left in life is a good death. Let's go out with a bang."
"No, Noah. I want you to live a long, happy life. Promise me you won't go all Amy on me?" Amy was a girl from training. During her first hit she blew up the entire building, including herself, but not before writing a suicide note and leaving it inside her mattress. "I won't, I promise."
"Swear it on your pride."
"I swear it on my pride." I pulled him into a hug and walked to my own room. I knocked on the door. "Millie, can I come in or are you completely naked?"
"One second." I could hear some more whispering coming from inside and mentally killed Finn. "On second thought, could you just hand me all my stuff? I'll just trade rooms with Finn from now on." Millie opened the door with her hair a mess and wearing only boxer shorts and Finn't shirt. "I don't feel like walking in on you two fucking anytime soon so just hand me my stuff, it's already in a duffel bag."
"Why was it already packed?"
"I knew this day would come, no pun intended." Finn laughed slightly. "Oh shut up, Wolfhard." I spat at him as Millie got the bag. "Here you go." She handed me the duffel bag and I slammed the door behind me. "Sads, you okay?" Noah yelled from his bedroom. "Yeah." I said, effectively hiding the shakiness in my voice. "No you're not, what's wrong?" I stormed off to my office and locked the door behind me. I threw the bag in a corner and sat in my chair in front of my laptop.

Luna. She's the only one that can help right now.
