(Raven's POV)
When I got home, I thought the first thing I was going to be asked about was my face. But when I walked into the house, he wasn't there. Strange. I walked into my room and saw a note laying on my bed.
It said,
Hey sweety.
I'm sorry, but I can't be here this week. I got a call from my boss that I have a conference in NYC. I'll be back in a week or two. There's $1000 on the table. That should provide you with food and other supplies. Call me every night so I know you're okay, okay?
Love Dad.
I sat down on my bed and set the letter down. Then I smiled to myself. I could go to the basement now. I grabbed my phone and sent a text to Sapphire.
"Hey Sapphire."
"Hey!"
"Thanks for standing up for me today."
"No prob girl! You know I'd do anything for you."
"Thanks Sapphire."
"You're welcome!"
"Hey, do you wanna come over tomorrow after school with Feonix? I have something to show you guys."
"Sure! If Jaxon can have his friends over while my parents are gone, I'm sure I can come over."
"Kk. Meet me at my house at 6. I'll see you tomorrow!"
"See you tomorrow!"
Now it was time to text Feonix.
"Hey Feonix." His response was almost instant.
"Hey Raven! What's up?"
"The sky." I responded sarcastically.
"Ha ha ha. Very funny. Now what's going on."
"Would you like to come over to my house tomorrow? Sapphire will be there as well. I want to show you something." There was a couple minute pause.between texts.
"Yeah! My parents are fine with it. What time should I be over?"
"6 would be nice."
"Ok. See you then."
"Bye."
I turned my phone of and walked out of my bedroom.I sat on the couch and turned on the TV. I watched for a couple hours, then my phone buzzed. I picked it up. It was just a normal notification. Then I realized I had to call my dad. I typed in his number and called.
The phone buzzed for a couple seconds, then went straight to voicemail. Typical. Dad asked me to call him and he doesn't even pick up. I roll my eyes.
I looked at the clock and saw it was 8:56. I sighed and headed back to my bedroom to go to bed. Tomorrow was going to be a fun day.
I woke up the next morning to my alarm clock blaring in my ear. I turned it off and went through my usual morning routine. I checked my phone, seeing if there were any notifications. Sapphire had texted me.
"Hey. Feonix and I are going to ride your bus. See you then."
I noticed she had sent the text at 1:25 this morning. What was she doing up that late? I shrugged. I could bug her about it on the bus.
When I got to my stop, I saw Feonix and Sapphire were already there. I ran over to them.
"Hey!" I yelled. Feonix waved. I blushed slightly.
"Sup!" Sapphire said giving a peace sign. I smiled, my blush fading from my cheeks.
"So why'd you guys decide to ride my bus this morning? You guys could've rode your own bus." I said. Feonix shrugged. Sapphire smirked.
"We wanted to ask you some questions about what you wanted to show us." Sapphire said winking and smirking at me. I groaned. Whenever Sapphire winked after saying something, it always ment that she was taking it tthe dirty way (and/or trying to get the rest of us to think it was wrong.) Feonix gave Sapphire a look.
"What?" She said innocently.
"Anyways, what were you doing up so late last night Sapphire? You shouldn't be staying up that late. You're grades will drop if you keep staying up." I said.
Sapphires happy demeanour suddenly dropped. A frown replaced her smile.
"I couldn't sleep." She said, a darker tone in her voice.
"Did you have another nightmare?" Feonix asked. Sapphire cringed.
"Yeah." She said, her voice etched with pain. I gave her a big hug. Feonix joins in.
"I'm sorry." I said, my voice full of sympathy. I felt something wet hit my shoulder, and I automatically know Sapphire's silent crying. I hug her tighter. We stood there awkwardly hugging each other for a few more minutes.
"Why are you guys hugging each other?" My head snapped up. I realized that all the other kids were staring at us. We all let go, our cheeks as red as a cherry.
"Is Sapphire crying?" I heard one of them mutter. Sapphires head snapped around to the poor kid who said that.
"I am NOT crying!!" She yelled at the kid. The whole group of kids stepped back. Like I said, Sapphire was scary when she got mad. Sapphire looked down.
"I'm sorry. We were just talking about a touchy subject." The other kids relaxed. The bus drove up and we all got on, the previous moment forgotten. It was going to be a long day.
*****
When I finally got out of school, I rushed to the bus to go back home. When I got home, I had no idea what I should've done before Sapphire and Feonix got here. I looked over at my TV and decided to finish watching the movie from last night. I threw my backpack across the floor and threw myself on the couch.
When the movie ended, I looked at my watch. It was 5:53. Oh Shit. During the movie I had messed up my hair and it looked like I had an afro. I sprinted to the bathroom and despritaly tried to fix my hair before my friends got there.
Just as I finished braiding my hair, the doorbell rang. I ran over to the door and opened it.
"Now will you tell us what you wanted to show us?" An annoyed Sapphire said.
