Ever since Mr Jackson acquitted us from the illicit relationship rumour incident, everything seemed to finally turn itself around for the better, thank goodness.
The following week after his investigations Mr Jackson made an announcement first thing in the morning for all the students to assemble in the school gym, which I followed along, considering that I still haven't switched back yet. He eventually launched into a long lecture about the entire incident Jayda, Celine, Martin and I experienced, and right at the end, shut down all rumours about whatever was up on the blog. That was much of a relief to me, especially when that one lie almost cost me my job in this school, what was more relieving was the fact that none of the body swap news was leaked to the school. God forbid that more drama start from that.
Turns out that the author of the scandalous blog post was a girl called Charlene Sherman. I never heard of her during my past few years as a teacher, maybe she somehow never gotten into any of my classes. Not only did that girl try to get Jayda and me into hot water, but turns out that she was also involved in something much worse last year. I remember teaching a girl named Heather Reid in English class two years ago and news of her committing suicide got out last year, before it was immediately dismissed by everyone within the school compound. Truth is, she didn't take her life due to her mental health issues. Charlene was the person behind the badmouthing and the bullying, driving her to her death.
You might ask, what happened to this living hell of a girl now that everything was sorted out? Apparently according to Mr Jackson, she got expelled from the school, permanently. Ever since the cold case of the school was reopened after sweeping it under the carpet for a year it just seemed to prove that Charlene was too big of a threat to the entire school community. After all, if she could drive a purely innocent student to her death and almost cause a teacher to be sacked, who knew what else she was worthy of pulling off?
At least now we know, we're safe. Until someone else ends up her role as the school menace, but we'll knock on wood for that.
After everyone was finally dismissed from the gym I found myself striding down the hallway alongside Celine and Martin. We managed to click well together surprisingly, even though I was still trapped in Jayda's body and Martin just joined my class less than a month ago, but I was glad I had company to blend in with the rest of the students until we finally switched back. Great company, that is.
"So Celine," I heard Martin ask from my right, "now that she's gone who do you think is gonna be the new queen bee?"
Queen bee? So that explains why almost everyone in the student body knew about her blog, she was a popular girl in school. But a mean, cruel one.
"I don't know man," Celine scoffed sarcastically, "probably another basic bitch with try-hard-to-be-hot makeup, but why do we even need a queen bee in the first place? Fuck the social hierarchy."
I almost jumped back at Celine's harsh language, but then again, aren't teenagers like that all the time?
"I'm just glad we're safe now," I smiled gratefully, "which means that we can finally go all out in swapping me and Jayda back into our rightful bodies."
"Yeah," Celine nodded in agreement, pulling all of us over to her locker to grab something, "We should really focus on getting the both of you switched back before anything else goes wrong even further. Question is, how exactly do we reverse the curse?"
Hmm, good question.
I took out Jayda's phone from inside her jeans pocket, which I was glad were deep enough to actually house it, before turning it on to check the time. It was just a mere five minutes before Jayda's next class that I had to sit in for, so I didn't have all the time in the world to stroll down the hallway with Celine and Martin to chat about our body switch plans. And didn't all three of us just pass by the classroom I was supposed to report to?
