Chapter Four: Boys Are Pigs (Says Ali)

Emma stared at her Chemistry book.

Someone knocked on her door. 

She sighed.

"Come in," she said.

"Hey! It's me!" Said Lance. Em double sighed, because she didn't need an annoying brother right now. She wanted peace.

"What do you want?" She asked.

"I can't believe you! You dissed Kelly Riker, and you're sitting here, skipping school? What's wrong with you?"

"For your information, I skipped only one day. And secondly, how the hell did you know about me dissing her?"

He rolled his eyes.

"Oh, c'mon Em, you're not the only 'cool' gang who spends Friday evenings in the Binge. There are other people to, including those from our own school."

"Whatever. So now the news has spread like wild fire in school, huh?"

"Even better! Everyone thinks you're this kid who stands up to the mean popular kids,and now everyone is calling Kelly OJ Baby. It's awesome! I didn't know you had this side to you!"

"Whatever, Lance. I'm not a saviour or anything."

"So why did you skip school?"

"I told you, I wasn't feeling-"

"Save that BS, tell the real reason." He said seriously.

"Fine! It's because... I can't go to school and face HER, OK? What I did on Friday, I had an explosive rage episode, but I can't go to school, Kelly will be out for my blood." She yelled.

"So that's why you skipped school?" Her mom asked, suddenly.

"Mom? What are you doing here?"

"I just came to see if you're fine now, which you are." Her mom said with narrowed eyes.

"I'm going to kill you, Lance." Em said.

"Hey, I didn't get her here." He protested.

"So, Emma Jean Deyton, you're skipping school because you're scared of a person?" Her mom asked.

"I... I had to, its not like you'd get it."

"I wouldn't get it? Really, what have you done so bad?"

"She dissed Kelly Riker and poured OJ all over her, and she cursed, mom, for the entire crowd at Binge to hear! It was so awesome!" Lance yelled.

"Lance, SHUT UP!"

"What? It's true!"

"You-"

"Em! Stop deviating from the point! And what's this about pouring orange juice over Kelly?"

"I... I snapped, that's all. She's been-"

"Mom, she snapped 'cause Kelly made a move on Peter, which made Em jealous, which had poor Kelly dripping in OJ."

"Oh?" Her mom sounded surprised.

"God, Lance." Em groaned.

"Is it true, Em?"

"Yes, yes it's true, Mom. She's been hitting below the belt and degrading my self esteem. I mean, I know I'm not much to look at and I'm just a nerd, so granted, I'm gonna have a low self esteem. And then she was going on about how she and Peter had 'fun' while I'd gone to Geneva, so I snapped."

"All this over a boy?" Her mom asked.

"Oh, excuse me, you're talking about NOT fighting over a boy? I think you've forgotten that time when you gave a black eye to that waitress who was flirting with dad."
