Chapter 20- Frozen Hearts

Doc Sam gathered all the volunteers for a late dinner. everybody worked hard that day that even if they're exhausted and all muddy dirty, their hearts are full of contentment and gladness.

"gusto kong magpasalamat sa lahat ng tumulong sa araw na to, thank you for all your efforts in extending your hands to our neighboring town. Sa kapatid ko Lance salamat and kay Teacher Faight, thank you for helping out"

The two nodded "you're welcome" to the Doctor as they're having their little bubble in the corner, Faight feeding Lance a sandwich.

"okay, now shall we all eat?"

Everyone ate their hungry belly's out. While the talks and plans for future projects for the refugees, Faight's realizations are piling up in her head.

Lance and Faight decided to go home and bid goodbye to the Doctor and his wife.

"Lance, salamat at hindi ka parin nakakalimot" Doc Sam said shaking his brother's hand

"sige, uwi na kami" Lance coldly responded

"o pano bayan Faight sana naman hindi pa to huli nating pagsasama ha? come to our house next time okay?"

"sure Ms. Michelle, I'd love that"

Lance started the engine while waiting for Faight

"ah sige po Doc Ms. Michelle, mauuna na kami'

"sige, mag-iingat kayo, tawag agad if you need anything"

Lance and Faight headed home. While on the road Faight teases Lance about his brother.

"oh, ano nanaman naiisip mo?"

"wala lang, ang cool niyo lang mag-kuya"

"bakit naman?"

"kasi bukod sa pareho kayong gwapo, kahit medyo may alitan kayo nagtutulungan parin kayo sa mga ganitong bagay"

"personal ang issues namin ni Sam. ang unfair naman kung idadamay namin ang mga ganitong importantent bagay. anything can be set aside if you're aiming for the same goal" "and one more thing, it's a subtle tribute to mom who died during the same disaster, kung wala kaming nagawa para matulungan siya noon, may magagawa kami para sa nakararami ngayon"

'that's pretty noble, Lance. I'm glad"

While driving, they passed someone who's standing beside a car with a man carrying what seems to be for the refugees as well. It is Angela, Lance's ex-girlfriend.

Faight quickly noticed the changed in Lance's eye expressions.

"okay ka lang?"

Lance smiled at her as if he seen nothing.

"yes"

He took Faight home and made sure she's not feeling feverish.

"salamat ah, sa chance na to sa pagsama mo sa akin at syempre sa paghatid narin"

"masaya kaba?"

"hayyyy" Faight leaned on his truck beside him and brushes her messy hair with her fingers

"sobra. alam mo? may na-realize ako eh. hindi ko akalain na ganito pala kabigat yung concern ko sa mga bata, sa welfare nila kasi alam mo dati impulse lang to eh, itong trabaho na to? lahat to biglaan lang. nakatambay lang naman ako sa terminal ng bus noon nagmumuni-muni tapos inalok lang ako nila Mariz na magtrabaho muna dito, habang hindi pa ako sigurado sa kung ano ang gusto ko. pero hindi pala siya pantapal lang sa butas sa buhay ko, isa pala siyang piece ng puzze naghihintay lang ng tamang oras para mahanap ang saktong kinalalagyan nito. ang sarap sa pakiramdam, feeling ko ang dami kong anak ha ha ha"

"hindi naman na ako nagulat doon" Lance smiled to his amazement of her face

"talaga? ano nahulaan mo? psychic kana ganon?"

"ha ha, hindi naman. the moment you saved Diego, covering him with your body alam kong genuine ang concern mo hindi dahil sa trabaho o obligasyon'

She watches him speak and wonder in awe at how Lance notices the little things about her.

'so paano? studio ko naman uuwian ko baka yun naman ang naanod"

"eeehhhhh, ano kaba! sasama ako ulit"

'shhh...joke lang" Lance take and kissed her hands 'sige na, get inside"

"okay, uhm Lance? please let me know"

"of?"

"uhm anything. if okay kaba o hindi just let me know. I know how you value your privacy kasi ganun din naman ako eh, I promised I won't ask, maghihintay nalang ako kung kelan ka ready na mag-open up"

Lance didn't let her speak further and pulled her closer to her, smashed his lips to hers.

"now, would that calm you down" He whispered while his head still leans on her forehead

"Ye...yes" she submittedly replied

She called her parents at 3 am. Faight missed them all of a sudden and told them what transpired and all of her realizations.

"dad?"

"mom?"

"pansin mo anak mo?"

"oo"

"hindi naman tumatawag ng madaling araw yun diba lalo na pag masaya?"

"oo nga dad...ano sa tingin mo?"

"in love ang dalaga natin"

"whaaaaaanag-kiss kayo?" "shet shet sherep sherep nemen!"

"ano ba kumalma ka"

"ano ba! alas tres na kasi pero yung kilig ko umaabot sa kabundukan niyo dyan" 'so ano na? kayo na?"

"kami agad?"

"ay grabe ano tawag mo dun? kiss kiss ganern lang?"

"uhm...pampakalma?"

"gagu! sa gwapo niya at hotness mo sa tingin mo kakalma kayo? if I know gusto ka ng anu"

"ooopppp!!!!! wag mo na ituloy"

"eh keshe nemen eh ha ha ha"

"jusko Dina ang harot mo!!"

"anong ako? kayo tong naghahalikan sa ilalim ng ulan ng madaling araw" "so, ano na nga?'

"wala, frozen"

"frozen? Elsa ikaw bayan?"

"naka-freeze lang muna. wala munang babasag, wala munang gagalaw hanggang walang kasiguraduhan"

"hayy nako bes, just you wait at matutunaw din yang mga puso nyong yan. ang tanong lang kaninong puso ang mauuna, sayo o sa kanya?"
