how do you continue on with life when everything around you is crumbling? when all you can think is that you wish you had died with your parents? that you wish you can die, when you have become something that had killed your parents and destroyed your life.
this is what Dasia was feeling as she sat in her uncles guest room. she shivered as hunger pains wracked threw her body, almost crippling her, but she refused to give in to what her body needed. there was no way. when her uncle brought her here, he wouldn’t leave her side. he kept watch and passed in front of her bed. it drove her insane until his wife, Cassie, pulled him out. with her new hearing, she could hear her telling her uncle to give her space. while she agreed with aunt Cassie, it made her lonely then ever.
she rocked on the bed, her arms wrapped around her knees, huddled as she stared at the white wall across from her. she didn’t want to do anything. she wanted to feel her mothers arms wrapped around her, telling her its OK, or to hear her father laughing over something. she could remember the days clearly when she was little, and every time she hurt or was bleeding, her mother would say "a kiss a day keeps the doctors away." and would kiss the wound-
her teeth shot out to crystal sharp points. she cried out as they scrapped her lip, causing it to bead with blood.
god, what kind of animal was she? she put her head on her knees and cried.
downstairs, there was a knock on the door. sin quick his pass and went to the door, opening it with more force then necessary. on the other side was Nathan and rose kibas. their son, Zayden accompanied them, hanging back behind his parents. he looked bored and wishing he was somewhere else, like making out with his girlfriend.
sin actually requested that they bring Zayden because he was close to Dasia's age, and ironically went to the same school. also that he wanted to tell Nathan that there was a rogue in their city. as one of the more powerful vampire families in the east coast. Nathan had black hair and green eyes. with a muscular build, and slightly shorter then sin's 6"5. he was a very serious man, but very loyal and will go out on a limb for people who he calls friends. his wife rose was a California babe. with sun tan, blond hair, crystal clear blue eyes. she was sweet to everyone, but she also had a bit of a temper, like Nathan. their son had his fathers hair, dark as a ravens wing, with his mothers blue eyes. he was about 5"11 to 6"1. he was more lean then muscular, but already his face showed promise of being a strong man.
"sin De La Cruz." Nathan said, sticking out his hand. he clasped it with his own.
"Nathan." he greeted. he opened the door wider for them. "please, come in." Cassie joined them at the door, her brown hair up in a pony tail, some green paint on her face, her cheeks flushed with blood. she was beautiful and he couldn’t help but bring her under his arm and gently kissed her fore head.
"hi, guys." she said, smiling, and shaking hands with rose.
"hello rose." Nathan said, awkwardly formal. she smiled at him.
"lets move in to the dining room, where you guys can talk. there is some coffee and some snacks. why don’t you follow me." she said, and turned and walked into the dinning room at the end of the hall. they all followed and entered the dinning room, which transformed in to a small conference office. Cassie knows that sometimes when vampires get together, there can be a result of blood shed, so everything of value is stashed and hidden. they sat in the chairs surrounding the oak wood square table, and sin sat at the head of the table. Nathan sat to his right, while Zayden and Rose sat on the opposite side.
"why where we called here?" Nathan asked.
"several days ago, my youngest brother was attacked and killed, along with his wife. a rogue vampire broke in to their house and murdered them." he said straight to the point. "whether it was on purpose or pure stupidity, i don’t know. but the rogue escaped and no one has seen him." Nathan looked at him, shocked.
"your youngest brother, grey? Sara?" Zayden looked up at that.
"Dasia was their daughter." he said, his voice low, and sin detected a note of worry. "what happened to her? was she among the dead?" sin shook his head.
"she's up stairs. that is why i asked for you. she-" he jumped up from the table and left with out a word, and the three adults all stared at each other.
Zayden walked up the stairs to the second floor. he could hear Lucy, sin and Cassie's 4 year old daughter playing in her room. down at the end of the hall, there was more noise, this time sobbing and sniffling. he followed the noise and stopped in front of the closed door. he wasn’t thinking, just reacting on instinct. he knew Dasia from school, he seen her around here and there, and they have a class together in a few days. but he paused as he was about to open the door.
what the hell was he doing here? he didn’t know her. he didn’t even like her type. the quiet kind. the one who was passive and didn’t have a back bone.
but there was something about her. he couldn’t put his finger on it. but with out knocking, he grabbed the door handle and twisted.
