Daisa woke up in the middle of the night, not knowing what had disturbed her. she opened her eyes, seeing if there was someone in her room, like her mom waking her up. but her room was dark and empty, the street light casting a slight glow off her mirror. she tried to listen for any noise, but it was quiet.

to quiet.

she threw off her bed spreed and got to her feet, and walked the few steps to the door. she cracked it open. she couldn't hear anything. usually, dad kept the radio on softly. the songs that flew threw the house where silent. she opened the door wider and stepped out into the hallway. all the lights where off, and her parents door was open. there was no one on the bed, or standing in the room. she stood on the top of the stairs and looked down. it was still dark, but she thought she heard a whisper of clothing just beyond the stairs.

"mom?" she called. no one answered. she listened harder, and heard a small voice. she couldn't make out the words, but it was in her mothers tone. relief blazed threw her, and she almost turned to go back to bed, when a crash split the air, making her jump.

"mom?!" she called worriedly, and ran down the stairs, almost tripping on the bottom stair. she wheeled around and ran into the living room.

she slid on something wet on the floor, and she fell against the wall. she looked down to the hardwood floor, and saw a dark, thick substance. it was then the smell almost knocked her back. it was the smell of blood. she gagged, and covered her nose and mouth with her shirt. where was her mom? how bad was the accident?

"mom!!!" she called even more worried. there was a noise in the adjoining dinning room, and she made her way into the dinning room. her hand groped for the light switch, but she couldn't find it. finally the tip of her middle finger, and the lights flared on.

her heart stopped, her breath got stuck in her throat, her eyes teared. her mother was on the table, still and lifeless, while a man was bent over her head, his mouth on her neck. blood dripped onto her mothers pristine white carpet, making it look like a red LED light. she made a small sound. just a tiny one, but the mans head snapped up, and looked at her, his eyes the same colour as the blood that was dripping from his mouth. horror and fear blazed threw her, the instinct to run coursing threw her. she let out a loud shriek and turned, then started to run. she only made it into the hall when she ran in to a body. she shrieked loud until a hand clapped over her mouth, and the scent of her father wafted up to her. she stopped, and her father pulled her to the stairs and sat her down. his golden eyes flashing in the light.

"baby." he whispered. "are you hurt? are you OK?" he checked her over. she nodded, her whole body shaking in panic and adrenaline.

"mo-om." she sobbed, broken. he pulled her in to a quick hug, his scent soothing her, along with the familiarity of his stronger body holding hers. he pulled back to look down at her.

"no matter what happens, no matter what you see, just remember that i love you, and your mother loves you. and i always will, no matter where i go." he said, and it made her freak out more then ever.

"its time to be strong, baby." his voice broke on baby. "strong like i know you'll be. strong like your mother. i need you to hide for me, baby. run and hide, and don't come out until the morning. then go to grandpa. he'll know what to do." she nodded, and he pulled away. she couldn't help grab his hand. he kissed her cheek.

"i love you baby. go hide." and he left down the hall.  she stared to go up the stairs when more crashing sounded from the kitchen.

dad!

she turned around and ran down the stairs, and ran in to the kitchen, down the hall. she threw open the swinging door, and skidded to a halt. her father was locked in a battle, muscle against muscle. the man covered in her mothers blood was baring... was baring...
