No one's POV
"Do you like chess?"
Robin turned to see his mate leaning against the locker right next to his, a tint of pink on his cheeks.
"Y-Yes," Robin whispered, hoping his mate wasn't going to bully him since most people thought chess was a nerd's game.
"Sweet! Come on!" Raven grabbed Robin's hand, sparks shooting everywhere with both trying to hold back their moans.
"U-Um, where are we going!?" Robin was a little nervous seeing that he was dragged into the lunch room to a table surrounded by football jocks. The weird thing was that there was a chess board on the table, not that any of them were touching it.
Raven suddenly stopped, turning back to look at Robin. Robin almost ran into his back, terrified, wondering if he should make a run for it.
"I'm Raven Hill, nice to meet you!"
Robin was suddenly tugged before he could introduce himself. He was forced to sit in front of the chess board. Robin bit his lip, half tempted to use his eye patch to escape. That would be a little more than evident that he wasn't human though. Especially since his eye was lavendar in color.
Robin saw Raven walking with confidence around the table, sitting in front of him, smiling happily; if not with a little giddiness.
"I-I'm Robin Winters," Robin never mumbled nor spoke loudly, but he wasn't monotone either. He just didn't like to speak up unless necessary.
"Well, Robin Winters, consider this initiation into the school!"
Robin lifted his brow skeptically, looking warily at the big jocks behind them.
"Ignore the meat sacks behind me," Raven chuckled, getting a few growls from them along with some playful punches against his arm, "no one likes playing chess with me."
Raven pouted so cutely that Robin felt his stomach flip flop, cheeks growing warm. His mate was cute... And playful. Nothing like himself.
"Why not?"
"Because they all think I cheat but the neanderthals just don't understand I'm just amazing," Raven laughed getting a few more punches to his arm. Raven chuckled, rubbing his arm, the football players seeming to go on with their own conversation.
Robin calmed down a little seeing no one was getting mad and he was pretty sure his mate was a gamma as well. The problem with submissive wolves was that they couldn't tell a normal or dominant status with any werewolves except for their alpha. He'd have to ask her about it later since she was probably already sniffing around the school.
"So what do I have to do?"
"You, cutie, have to beat me at chess. If I win you get to go on a date with me."
Robin just knew his face was on fire at that, his mate was really bold.
"Is this a ploy to make fun of the new kid or something?" Robin whispered, feeling his wolf whimper sadly, knowing the chances of a submissive being accepted was extremely low. He'd need more data from non-rogue packs to determine this though.
Robin suddenly realized the cafeteria was almost silent which freaked him out before feeling his breath get cut short. His mate Raven looked as though someone just died. It was heartbreaking.
"I'm not the kind of guy that does that sort of thing. I'd like to prove that to you," Raven whispered. Robin was shocked at that, the fierceness in his mate's eyes was stunning.
I guess... Taking a chance is a part of life Robin thought to himself. Robin nodded slowly, more of to calm himself down it seemed. The chatter slowly filled the cafeteria once more, Robin feeling like he could breathe again.
