The boy standing in front of me was clearly out of his mind. I narrowed my eyes as anger and annoyance took over me. He just couldn't stop laughing could he? I rose from the ground and snatched my drawing book from his grasp.
"What? You don't think it's funny?" He continued laughing while clutching his stomach. "You should've seen the look on your face, priceless!" He pretended to shed a tear of pure amusement. I glared at him, waiting for him to stop laughing. "Oh boy." He eventually stopped.I took a step forward and stepped on his foot as hard as I could. He shrieked in pain. I raised my chin and tried to keep a straight face, but his screech was too high-pitched, I couldn't help but start laughing. "What was that for?!" He shouted while shielding his foot from me. "For scaring me to death! What do you do for living? Let me guess, stalking and pranking people in the middle of the woods?" I folded my hands on my chest.
He stood up and brushed off the dust from his jeans. "Wow, you can read minds! Bravo." He said sarcastically. Which I responded by rolling my eyes.
"Soo I'm Alaric, call me Alec." He extended his hand for me to shake. I hesitated for a moment before shaking it. "Right.. okay Alec. Not so nice meeting you. I'm gonna go.. and since you discovered my hiding place, this is gonna be the last time you'll ever see me. Soo.. bye!" I ranted and practically ran away, not wanting to waste any more minutes with the mysterious boy."No- Crystal, wait!" He jogged towards me. I stopped dead on my tracks and turned around to face him. "Wait a minute.. How did you know my name?" I eyed him suspiciously. I didn't recall ever mentioning my name to him. "Oh my, you've read my book haven't you? Unbelievable! This- this is my private property, no other soul shall open the book except me-" He stopped my rant by placing his finger on my lip. "Shh, did you hear that?" He looked around, both of us trying to hold our breath.
A few seconds passed and my heart beat started escalating again. I looked around but it was silent. Suddenly, Alec started laughing. "Alec! Hey shush, we're gonna get killed if you don't!" I shout whispered to him while looking around frantically. "Y- you're too gullible I- It's unbelievable." He said between laughter. I had just realized that it was one of his stupid prank, again. I was beyond irritated by his presence. "Goodbye." I said with a stern voice and stormed off.
"Hey, I'm sorry! You just won't shut up!" Once again he jogged towards me. I ignored him and walked faster.
"The moon and the stars are my company, my heart's solace and symphony-" He quietly said while I stopped and turned around to stare at him."The sky is dark and cloudy.
Resembling my soul, shallow and lonely." I spoke along, our voice synchronizing. "I see you've memorized my poem." Somehow I felt proud. "You basically wrote everything I feel. It honestly touched my heart." He rubbed the back of his neck as a shy gesture. "Forgive me?" He looked up to me. I pondered for a few seconds. "Sure, forgiven." I felt bad for this lonely guy. It was about time to have a conversation with someone rather than my own mother."The stars are beautiful tonight, don't you think?" He was offering me to stay, indirectly. "Yeah." I didn't want to go home yet, so I followed him to the tree. We sat under the sycamore tree, my mind wander to the words on it. "Are you the one who carved this." I pointed to the scratched words. "Yes- wait no. Not the first line. I only wrote the just a friend one." He shrugged. Was he telling me the truth? "So.. you've been stalking me for how long?" I turned to him, surprised.
"Um.. A few days. I was looking for a spot to enjoy the night, then I heard an angelic voice. I followed the source of the voice, and you were singing under this tree. Just like you, I don't have much friends. I wanted to approach you, but didn't have the guts." He explained. "So you pranked me instead? That doesn't make sense." I couldn't figure this boy out. "Yea well, I'm not good at saying Hi hello, my name is Alec, wanna be friends? Easier if I prank you, it's more fun anyways." He winked and I laughed.
