I screamed in shock as green flying crickets burst out of the tree, scratching my face in the process. Alec grabbed me and put his hand on my mouth. What was this?! Was he trying to scare or kill me?! I turned around, his hand still on my mouth, and glared daggers at him.
When he removed his hand from my mouth, I took one big breath before I started blabbering. "What the heck Alec?! Fairies? Seriously? Your pranks aren't funny!" I grimaced, while hitting his arm. "Ow! Shh, stop screaming you're scaring them. Just trust me." He whispered. I calmed down and looked up to the crickets. They were flying in a circle motion, lots of them. They looked dangerous.
On the corner of my eyes, I saw Alec slowly approaching the flying crickets. "Alec are you insane?!" I shout-whispered. I wanted to hold him back but unfortunately I was too scared to do so. I watched as he extended his finger to them. One of the cricket got out from the circle in the air and flew to his hand before landing. Oh no, he's gonna get bitten isn't he? I panicked, what was wrong with this boy?
He stared at the cricket intently while I stared at him. His face inched closer to the cricket on his hand, my face cringing. Then he blew a slow breath to the cricket. What I saw next made my eyes almost fall out of its sockets. The skin on the cricket started to crack and bent, slowly turning into something else. Alec looked so calm as if he had seen it a thousand times before. While me on the other hand, was confused and terrified at the same time.
Alec moved closer to me and mouthed 'Be still', I did what he told. I froze like a statue as his finger and the creature on it moved closer and closer to me. I gasped and brought my hands up to my mouth, surprised as I saw what the cricket had become. My eyes traveled to the creature, to Alec, then back to the creature.
It was a fairy.
Like a real fairy. Not like what I saw in fairytale books though. It didn't have a beautiful hair, or a cute dress. It was just a plain forest fairy, not wearing anything, covered in full green dirt, yet still beautifully enchanting and absolutely breathtaking. The wings were a transparent yellow color. She was smiling at me. I forced a smile while my brain was still processing what I was seeing and making sure I wasn't just imagining it.Eventually my body relaxed and a genuine smile started forming on my face. I extended my finger and she flew from his finger to mine. "You're so beautiful." I whispered to the fairy while my eyes glistened, adoring. She looked back to the rest of the fairies and flew away there. Alec and I crept closer.
"Am I dreaming? Or am I actually seeing a fairy.." I whispered to Alec. "You're not. But they aren't fairies though. They're Fayettes." He smiled, informing me. I nodded and we both turned our attention to the group of Fayettes. A million questions passed through my head but I decided to ask him later.
