They walked hand in hand through the palace gardens. The stars lit their path, trees arched overhead and flowers of all kinds flooded the flower beds. Matthuis bent down to pick a bright purple flower then gave it to Eriexia. “It’s purple to match your eyes and beautiful, just like you.” Eriexia smiled. Matthuis stroked her face then tucked the flower into her hair. Matthuis’s hand slid down her face, Eriexia put her hand over his and smiled...
The bell rang. Without waiting for their teacher to dismiss them, the class scurried out of the room. Luke waited by the door for Cat but Justin got to her first.
“Hey.” Justin said as he grabbed Cat’s hand. She turned to face him, “Oh, hi.”
Justin let go of her hand shuffled about from foot to foot, his hands in the pockets of his bright red skinny jeans, which made it difficult for Cat to pay attention to what he was saying.
“Listen. Cat. About tonight. I can’t make it.”
Cat looked at him confused, “Huh?”
Justin ran a hand through his hair, “Something came up and y’know. Maybe we can go on the date another time if you want.”
Cat continued to stare at him in confusion. “Date?”
Justin sighed, “Our date. Tonight. Y’know, downtown.”
Suddenly it dawned on her, “Oh, that. It’s tonight? Um, so. Could you repeat that again.”
Justin stopped shuffling and looked at her accusingly, “You totally forgot, didn’t you?”
Cat looked at Luke then back at Justin, “Er. No! I just- Well I-”
Justin raised an eyebrow. “You forgot?”
Cat nodded, “I forgot.”
He smirked, “Well it’s cool. I wouldn’t expect you to. What with Luke and everything.”
“I am not-”
“Cat save your breath. I’m totally cool with you guys being close. Besides I can’t make it. Something came up.”
Cat crossed her hands, “First of all, me and Luke are not close, we just friendly, secondly, I thought you really wanted to go downtown and lastly, What’s with the shirt and tie , you never wear a shirts with ties. Ever!”
Justin smiled, “Yeah, um, see you later.” He said walking away.
Cat walked over to Luke, “So?”
Luke smiled and grabbed her hand, “Let’s go.”

Mrs Budd looked up from the desk, where she was working, as Luke walked in with Cat. Her mousy brown hair was tied up in a bun, her honey brown eyes where outlined with black mascara and her eyebrows defined with a brown pencil eyeliner. Her pale creamy face was wrinkle free and particularly made her cool fuchsia lips stand out.
“Mum, Kay, this is Cat,” Luke said pointing at Cat. “Cat that’s my mum and my brother Kay.”
Cat gave Mrs Budd and Kay a faint wave. “Hi.”
Mrs Budd nodded in acknowledgement but Kay did no more than raise an eyebrow at Luke’s crimson face. “Well, you sure move quick bro! You sure move quick!”
Luke shot a look at his brother who had his feet up on the table.
Whilst Luke took after their dad's looks and their mums personality, Kay clearly took after their mum's looks and their dad's personality . He had the same mousy brown hair, honey brown eyes and pale creamy face as their mum and took on their dad’s immaturity and suggestiveness.
“Er, Mum Cat’s here for your, um, survey.” Mrs Budd smiled, “Oh yes that.” She stood and walked over to them. Handing over a bundle of paper to Cat, she said, “I just need you to fill in the gaps and complete the questions.” She paused and looked carefully at Cat, “You’re Misty Treasure’s sister, aren’t you?”
Cat smiled, “Yep, but I’m not terrible at athrimetics like her.”
At this Mrs Budd laughed. When Luke and Cat had started up the stairs, she gave Kay a look then shouted up the stairs, “And leave the door open!”
Cat opened the door and walked into the room. "Whoa!"
The wall behind the bed had been wallpapered to represent a row of neon guitars but had a real one in the centre. The blankets and pillows where in a heap on the bed, which was beside a plastic neon pink bedside table. Clothes where scattered over the collection of neon coloured beanbags surrounding the bottom end of the bed and others hung down from a neon green office chair at the work station to the left. The only parts of the room that looked relatively tidy where the storage units surrounding the work station and the wall opposite which was entirely a patio door. The ceiling, however, was calm and less chaotic, it had the night sky with the constellations and was animated so it moved like the real sky at night.
“OK, what happened in here? It’s like someone dropped a explosive and it landed right in the middle of the room!” Cat exclaimed dumping her bag besides the door.
Luke laughed, “Hey, I’m a sixteen year old boy! What do you expect? Besides I was in a rush!”
“Where to? It’s not like it was the end of the world.”
Luke put his arm around her, “Well, it could have been.”
She moved his hand off her shoulder and walked towards his bed, “Really? On what planet?”
Luke smiled and followed her, “On the planet I like to call ‘My Head’.”
She turned and looked him up and down, “You better have a place where we can do these.”
Luke smirked, “There’s the balcony. But you’d have to sit on a beanbag.”
Cat stared at him then grabbed a beanbag.. “Come on, we should tidy this room up.”
