May I have the pleasure of the first dance?” his voice sounded surprisingly familiar . “If you wish to do so then you may.” Eriexia heard herself say this before she could associate his voice with someone else. The music began...
Cat found herself staring at the wrought iron gates of her school. She examined the way the roses and ivy wound their way up it. Westfield High was unlike any other school, it was new and exciting whilst at the same time old and traditional. Cat looked at he masses of kids hanging around in the school front yard; they where separated into five different cliques: the populars (people such as Alexa Robins); the cool kids (people who where cool but not cool enough to be a popular); the nerds; the punks, emos and goths and the unpopulars. If you didn’t fit into any of these categories then you would become an outsider, which was what Cat was.
Scarlet, Yazmin and Pixie waved to her from the other side of the school yard; they were all outsiders and had never belonged to any other cliques, with the exception of Pixie who had once belonged to the populars but had chosen to become an outsider.
Pixie was wearing the type of clothes that pretty much every much every other popular girl wore (mini skirts, tight tops and heels) and was an absolute contrast to Scarlet who was wearing a black skinnies with a purple top that had a black skull on it and purple Doc Martens . Yazmin, however, was more of a feisty fasionista who always pushed the boundaries, she was in a coral skirt, a loose fitting turquoise vest top, had minimal make-up on with an oversized aqua ring on the middle finger of her right hands, several gold bracelets and bangles on both hands and a couple gold chain necklaces on.
Just then the bell rang, indicating the start of another school day at Westfield High.
In a voice that was surprisingly familiar to her, Matthuis asked Eriexia if he could have the pleasure of the first dance. Before she could associate his voice with someone else, Eriexia replied, “If you wish to do so, then you may.” The music began...
“Catalina Treasure! May I have your attention please?!” Cat snapped out of her daydream, Mrs Fleuron’s twenty-fifth attempt to think up a longer name for Cat, was just as bad as getting your head smacked by a basketball.
“Miss. It’s just Cat, it don’t stand for nothin’. Just Cat Treasure, that’s all there is to it.” Justin spelled it out, yet again, to their teacher.
Alexa sniggered, “More like, Cat Ba-lue!” This set off the whole class except Justin, Jet (who was sleeping) and Luke, who never appeared to pay any attention to what was going on around him.
Before she could stop herself, Cat snapped at Alexa, “I might be a daydreamer, but at least I’m not a self-obsessed bitch like you.”
At this the whole entire class, excluding Jet who was still sleeping, turned to face her. No one, not a single soul, not even the jocks, ever dissed Alexa Robins.
Alexa Robins was the top notch popular kid, she practically ran the school, even the teachers feared her. Her father owned the land the school was built on and could have it knocked down alongside the surrounding buildings with just one word. Alexa slowly stood .
“What did you just say?” With her overdone spray tanned skin and straightened clearly dyed blonde hair, Alexa looked like one of the girls from ‘Trouble In Paradise: Miami Beach’; fake and overdone.
Cat repeated what she had said only slower so Alexa could understand her.
Alexa put her hand on her hip. “Excuse me . My ears don’t seem to be working properly because I thought I heard you say that I’m a self-obsessed bitch.”
Cat stood up and crossed her hands, “Yeah. I did,” she took step towards Alexa, “I said you are a self-obsessed bitch and everyone here knows that you are.” She paused. “Y’know you’re so self-obsessed that you would do anything to get what you want, even betray your friends; and the only reason everyone tries to please to please you, is cuz your dad is super rich and owns lots of land.”
There was a sharp intake of breath from the class. Cat took another step towards Alexa. “That’s right. I’m sayin’ that you’re a self-obsessed bitch with no real friends, who everyone thinks is an uptight snobbish ‘daddy’s girl’.”
Alexa took a step towards her. “Are you asking for a fight? Cuz you’re pretty close to getting one.”
Cat looked utterly astounded.
“Fight?!” She took a step towards Alexa.
“Fight!” She took another step towards her.
“I don’t think you know the definition of a fight.” She took two more steps towards Alexa.
“A fight is when two or more people hitting, punching and physically hurting each other.” She took another two steps towards her.
“It does not mean one person bashing the other whilst that other person, i.e. you, shrieks and pulls their hair.” Cat took a step towards Alexa.
“Come on then. Let’s have a ‘fight’.”
Alexa looked down at the space between her and Cat, one more step from either of them and they would be in a ‘fight’ on the floor. If they where to fight, Cat would bash her in and everyone knew that.
Just then, Principal Aikman entered the room. “Ah, Mrs. Fleuron. I just came in to check why it’s so quiet in here.”
He turned his attention to Cat and Alexa, who were still stood in the middle of the room.
“Miss Robins, Miss Tesoro, Is there a problem?”
Cat glared at Alexa. She smirked. “No. No I don’t think there is. Is there Alexa?”
Alexa gulped. She wiped the sweat off her hands on her skirt then turned so she could face the Principal. “No Sir. There isn’t a problem.”
Principal Aikman lifted his eyebrow not so convinced. “Well then please return to your seats.” He waited until both girls had sat down before he left.
This was when Jett chose to wake up. “Uh, Why’s everyone so quiet?” This earned him a poke in the ribs from Justin. “Ow! Man! What’d you do that for?” He exclaimed in pain. Justin shot him a look. He didn’t need anymore prompting to understand. Now was not the time.
