He took her hand and lead her to the end of the path where a large weeping willow tree stood, it’s leaves curtaining the rest of the garden from view. Matthuis separated the leaves to reveal a clearing. Eriexia let go of his hand and went to the centre of the clearing. “Wow! It’s amazing,” She said, laughing. Matthuis walked towards her, “I used to come here, all the time, when I was a child. It’s my own hiding place.” Eriexia looked at him. “Thank you. Matthuis. For showing it to me.” He held out his hand and smiled...

They sat in the wind overlooking the garden. It was a flat lawn with some flower and vegetable beds, it was fringed by a hedge with an flower archway and a gate leading to the forest behind. The forest was full of autumn trees and had a path leading deeper into the forest.

Cat looked up from the survey and nudged Luke, “Hey. What’s in the forest?”

Luke rubbed the spot where she had nudged him. “Well, um, there’s trees some flowers, oh, and I’m pretty sure there are some hedgehogs and deers.”

Cat laughed, “No. I didn’t mean it in that way. I meant why does it look so familiar?”

Luke shrugged. “I don’t know, maybe because you see trees like that in every forest?”

She looked at him, why was it that she felt so intimidated around him? It wasn’t like he was going to propose to her or something. “Yeah. I know I see trees like that in every forest, but I swear I’ve been there before.” She stood and went back into the now tidy bedroom.

“Hey! Where are you going?” Luke shouted from the balcony. Cat put her jacket on, “To investigate.” She shouted back. Luke sighed then went after her.

Cat ran out of the house and into the garden closely followed by Luke. Mrs Budd called after them, asking them where they were going but got no reply. Cat rushed out of the gates then waited for Luke by the entrance of the forest path.

He arrived a few minutes later, panting. “Wow... you.. sure... run... fast!”

Cat smiled then pulled her hood up and began running again down the familiar path. Luke sighed and ran after her, when he found her, she was beside a bunch of colourful flowers.

He panted beside her, “What... goes... on?”

Cat looked around her, “I swear I’ve been here before!” She was just about to continue running when Luke grabbed her hand, “Have...” he caught his breath, “have you ever considered joining a running team?”

Cat laughed, “No, there’s not much point.”

“Well, you should, cause you’re really good at it”

Having said this, he bent down and picked a purple flower and gave it to Cat, “It’s beautiful just like you.”

Cat smiled. Luke stroked her face then tucked the flower into her hair. Luke’s hand slid down her face. Cat brushed his hand off her face “OK. Now I know I’ve been here before.”

She grabbed his hand and dragged him to the end of the path where a large weeping willow tree stood, it’s leaves curtaining the rest of the forest from view.

“Whoa! It’s amazing,” She said, laughing.

Luke walked towards her, “Yeah I know. I used to come here, all the time, when I was a child. It’s my own hiding place.”

Cat looked at him. “You knew this was here!?”

Luke laughed, “Of course I do! I grew up here.”

She hit him in the chest, “You knew this was here and you let me run all the way here!?” He laughed again.

Cat hit him in the chest again, “It’s not funny!”

He continued laughing, louder this time. She hit his chest continuously until he had to grab both her hands to stop her.

After she had calmed down, Cat looked up at Luke to find him gazing down at her. She opened her mouth to say something but he put his finger up to her lips. Luke cupped her face in his hands and they were just about to kiss when someone cleared their throat behind them. They jumped apart and turned. Mrs Budd stood there, arms crossed, with Kay behind her, a smug expression on his face. Luke and Cat looked at each other then at them and back. Mrs Budd gave them a look then began back home with them tailing behind her.

He took her hand and lead her to the end of the path where a large weeping willow tree stood, it’s leaves curtaining the rest of the garden from view. The prince separated the leaves to reveal a clearing. She let go of his hand and went to the centre of the clearing. “Wow! It’s amazing,” She said, laughing.

He walked towards her, “I used to come here, all the time, when I was a child. It’s my own hiding place.”She looked at him. He held out his hand and smiled...

“So...” Luke began. They where walking down the street, towards Cat’s house- Mrs Budd had insisted that Luke walk Cat home- with their hands in their pockets. Cat smiled, slipped her hand into the pocket of his jacket and wrapped her fingers around his.

When they arrived at Cat’s house, Luke let go of her hand then ran his through his hair, “Um, so, what are you doing tomorrow?”

Cat smiled, “Not much. Why?”

“Well, uh, I was wondering- if you’re not busy- if you wanted to go downtown with me.”

“What? Like on a date?”

“Well, uh, yeah- and I swear it won’t be like today, y’know with my mum and Kay and everything- I mean it doesn’t have to be a date if you don’t want it to be- I mean you don’t even have to come if you don’t ...” His voice faded away. Cat smiled, “I do want to.”

He put his hands back into his pockets and smiled, “Great! I’ll meet you outside the mall at ‘The Smoothie Plaice.’ at, er, four in the afternoon?”

“Yeah, sure, four’s fine.”

“Great! I’ll see you there.”

“Yeah. See ya.”

She waited until he was just a tiny spec in the distance before she opened the door and went inside.
