Chapter 1
Um.... Hi.

I woke up, and for once I slept well. I walked to my bathroom and looked at myself. Jodie Holmes.... the currently 23 year old freak. I washed my face and got ready. A knock echoed from the door. "Aiden can you open that," I asked. I was different. My best friend is the spirit connected to me. His name is Aiden, and he's kinda like my protector but he gets me into trouble......a lot. I walked out and there stood Ryan, my partner in the CIA. "Hey Ryan, uh- It's 10 in the morning what's up," I asked. "You're being deployed to TORCHWOOD 3 in Cardiff," he said plainly. "What," I asked a bit taken off guard. "Pack your stuff and hurry to the helicopter's on the roof. I just nodded. I packed a bag and ran up. I sat in the helicopter and watched as we took off. I thought I'd finally found a home this time. We landed and I went alone to a building. Aiden guided me to a square and it started down. I ducked as a pterodactyl flew over my head. "What the fuck," I muttered. I got down and looked around. Ryan told me to find a Captain Jack. I walked forwards up a ramp. All five people in the room looked up at me. Two were girls both had dark hair one was caucasion the other..... oriental? There was also three caucasions males. Two with dark hair one with light. Only the two dark haired guys had been standing with the women . "Um.... Hi," I said a bit timidly.

"Who the hell is she," The light haired guy asked. "Wait Jack is she," asked the oriental looking woman. Jack I presume cut her off. "You're early Jodie," Is all he said. "They sent me in a helicopter," I responded meekly. "Well meet the team, Toshiko," He says gesturing towards the oriental woman. "Owen," he says gesturing to the light haired man, "Gwen," The other woman. "Ianto," He looks at me ,"And I'm Jack. Team meet Jodie Holmes." I smiled shyly and their jaws dropped. "The, Jodie Holmes," Owen asked in disbelief. "Wait! Why didn't I know of this? I always know what goes on here," Ianto asked. "You mean Jodie Holmes the thirteen year old who closed the time rift Jodie Holmes," asked Gwen. "Welcome to the team," Jack said shaking my hand and Aiden flung the paper work down. Jack stooped down and picked it up. "Sorry Aiden is just- very protective," I apologized. "Sorry, I'm off Rhys is back home," Gwen said and faces me, "Lovely meeting you." I nodded "You too."

"C'mon Jodie let's show you to your room," Jack said. "She's staying on the base?" Ianto asked. "Until we can find an apartment," Jack said simply. "Riiight, so why was there a pterodactyl on the way down," I asked looking back up. "Oh we brought it back from extinction," Toshiko said. "But it died it should stay.... dead," I countered. I'd seen plenty of trapped souls that were being held here because of something. "I've died plenty of times, well technically I can't die. A friend of mine got a bit too time rift happy," Jack said. I shook my head. "I don't believe you.... give me your hands" I said holding my palms up. He hesitantly placed his palms in mine. My head tilted forward and snapped up. I watched the many times he died and felt the pain of each death, and each time he came back it was like being dragged bare back over asphalt and glass. I stepped back once it was done gasping for air. I looked up wide eyed. I wiped a tear away that I hadn't even known escaped. "Are you ok," Owen asked concern on all of their faces. "Y-yeah," I stammered and started of a bit shakily. "Right so um where's my room," I asked. Ianto showed me the way. "What did you see," he asked. "Pain," I said plainly remembering with a shiver. I walk in, placing my bag on the floor. "I hope you don't mind the camera," Ianto said. "Huh? Oh, don't worry I grew up under surveillance it's nothing new," I said with a chuckle. He nodded and walked out. I plopped onto the bed. "JODIE," called someone behind the door knocking on it. "AK!" I shouted as I rolled off the bed. I looked up to the digital clock. It's 8 in the morning. What is going on?
