Chapter 7

No

"I told you I'm taking you out of the mission," Jack said and pulled me to the side. "I'm the only one who can see these things you need to let me stay," I said. "Jodie, this mission might be more than you can mentally handle," he urged placing his hands on my shoulders. I swiped them off. "There you go again, treating me like a child. I can handle it," I said, speaking in a bit of hushed tone as not to make a big commotion. "Jodie, you just broke down and you're jumping about," he said. "If you saw what I do you would understand. But I'm stable enough for this mission," I said. "No go that's an order," he said. I shook my head, "No." "Stop acting like a child and take your orders," He said coldly. "Fine, but if you need my help later on expect an I told ya so," I said walking back. I sat against the dumpster and tipped my head back closing my eyes. I watched as Aiden went through the building and followed them. We could both see they were passing by now there were bodies on the ground the little girl I saw earlier. The Doctor stopped. Aiden made a light flicker. "What is it Aiden," Gwen asked quietly and Aiden made the light flicker over the girl. The Doctor had and aura color of yellow. That's nothing I'd seen before. He kneeled next to it and Aiden flowed the energy. I saw what he saw. "Help," the little girl screamed in the last images of her life. Then it showed her sobbing and running at me and listening through the wall as I broke down. A voice said, "Remove the child who sees she will stop our experiments if she continues with them," it said. A black mass the entity showed up. "He's sees too KILL HIM," It shouted orders and the Doctor fell back. "Doc you ok," Jack asked. "Get Jodie back," The Doctor said. "But you sa-," Jack started but the Doctor cut him off, "I know but that was planned they wanted you to take her out of the mission she was right we do need her." "What did you see," Ianto asked. "This is the little girl that caused Jodie to break down but all the trapped souls here and being kept here by something dark," The Doctor said with a chuckle. "Like a haunted house" Gwen asked. "I guess so yeah, never thought I'd live to see the day I actually saw a real ghost," The Doctor says. "I never thought I'd hear you admit they exist Mr. Science," Jack said as he walked off a bit and turned on his Com. I sat up my eyes opening. "Jodie can ya hear me," He asked. "Lemme guess... I told ya so," I said standing up and walking in. "We're in the-," he said. "I know by the little girl, Aiden showed me," I said and turned mine off walking up. I met them.

"They saw you Doctor, they're coming and there's no telling how many," I whispered. I stopped at another body. I kneeled down and placed a hand to it. The energy flowed to my head. I saw the man being dragged in and locked in a cage an almost weavill ran at him and bit his neck. I stood up. "We're getting closer to the source," I said seeing the pointing spirits again. My stomach flipped as the smell of metal and blood were infused with rotting flesh. I had to stop for a second. I heard the sound of whispering and opened a door. I looked as a mutilated person who was once human now had bat wings and a weavill head. It was still alive. I slammed the door shut. It was only a teenager maybe 14 years old. Owen walked over. "C'mon," he said putting an arm around my shoulder and walking me away. I closed my eyes continuing to walk ignoring the screams and the wails and the inhumane sounds. I took in slow deep breaths and opened my eyes. What I saw was completely different. It was dark and the lights where flickering I couldn't see my team anymore. It's all in your head Jodie. I walked to the door. "Jodie," I heard a muffled mixture of their voices. They kept repeating my name. I pushed open the door and an entity swarmed towards me. I pulled the door back so fast I stumble back into the Doctor. He walked to the door. "Don't, It's nothing human. It can kill a person in a matter of seconds," I said and watched as he pulled out a stick thing with a light and a buzzing thing went off inside it. I followed as he walked off. "We look for survivors and then we burn this place after taking the files," I say. "What," Ianto asked. I didn't repeat myself. "This place what ever it is, it's keeping these people trapped between our world and the infraworld," I stated plainly. I went on opening doors no other survivors. "Alright everyone out," I said and smelled gas. We hadn't put any out. "RUN," I shouted. We took off sprinting and I stayed behind to make sure they got out. I was behind with Owen who clearly wasn't up to this. A fire split the floor Owen, The Doctor and I were behind while Jack, Gwen and Ianto where buy the door. "GO GET OUT." I shouted. They where hesitant but left. I focused Aiden and my energy into a force field. "Where did the fucking fire come from," Owen asked. "I don't know you need to fucking trust me if we're gonna get outta here. I started to walk with them forward. "ARE YOU MAD WE'LL DIE," Owen shouted at me between coughs. "OWEN SHUT UP! I NEED YOU BOTH TO TRUST ME ON THIS," I shouted back and kept moving the fire splitting and we were safe. Beads of sweat started to roll down my forehead. It felt like the middle of August in a heat wave of 110. I got us across and we started running but an entity blocked the door. I grabbed their hands and ran another way. "We need another exit," I shouted to the Doctor over the roaring fire and falling wood. He nodded and led us to a hallway. The door was stuck open on a box and we slid through. It was freezing. I hugged my arms close and could see my breath through chattering teeth. I saw a door and walked to it. It won't budge. It needed an access card. I looked at them. "F-f-f-find and access c-card," I said and walked over to a room. There were dead scientists on the floor. I walked to one and stooped down picking up the card. They started to get up and I ran out. "G-go!" I shouted opening the door. The reanimated scientists grabbed my arms and dragged me back. I screamed and thrashed. I kicked one in the face and flung them off I ran out the door and closed it. We were outside. I ran with them going to find the others and we did.

Stopped as I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned but there was no one there. I turned back around and a weavill screamed in my face. I walked through it trying to keep myself together. I looked as the building burned. I hadn't realized I was trembling. The Doctor was saying goodbye and he walked into a 1960s police box and it disappeared with him inside. So he's a time traveler? We went to the car and as soon as we walked out I went to my room. I locked the door and sat on my bed. I held a pillow to my face and screamed. I looked up pulling myself together. The little girl stood in front of me she had purple pjs on her long blonde hair was in a ponytail. Her eyes where a deep green and she smiled. "Thank you! I get to see my mommy now," She said and faded away. I closed my eyes and someone tried to open my door. "Jodie's not here right now please leave a message after the tone..... Beep," I said flopping on my back. "It's all of us we just wanted to see if you were ok and to thank you," Gwen said. I stood up and walked to the door I stood there for a minute. "And we got cake," Owen added. I opened the door a bit asking, "What kinda cake?" Ianto smiled answering, "Home made lava cake." I opened the door. "Will there be ice cream," I asked tilting my head. "French vanilla," Owen informed. "I'm in," I said. I smiled and walked with them. Something, however, felt off. Was Gwen wearing teal eye shadow? Why is Owen staring at me googely eyed? I tried to brush it off. I just sat on the couch and ate the cake with them. I looked up and there was this random woman. I dropped the plate and held up my gun aiming it at her head. "Who the hell are you and how the fuck did you get here," I asked. Jack, Gwen, and Ianto were yelling at me to relax. The woman looked at me shocked. "Jodie it's me Natalia," She said trying to grab my wrist. I took a step back. "Don't touch me," I warned. "Jodie, Natalia has been here for years," Owen said. "Oh really? Then answer me this: Why haven't you told me? Why don't I know her? Where are her pictures around the place hm," I asked.
