Lana's house on side 👉

Lana's POV~

As soon as I opened the door to my house, it was like I just arrived at the North Pole. It's still January and I live in Seattle. I ran to the thermometer and saw it was currently 52°F. I quickly set the temperature to 78°F. I sighed and realized that no one was home. I wasn't surprised. My mom, Rebecca, is a lawyer. Right now she's working on a divorce case, which is the worst. My dad is a doctor, that kinda speaks for itself. He's always on call except Sundays and if it's really urgent, the hospital calls the house. My sister, Maddie, is either at her friends house or her boyfriends getting high. I made my way into the kitchen when Austin let a pot fall to the ground.

"Sorry" He apologized. He quickly put the pot back where it fell from. I made my way to the fridge and opened it.

"We have leftover pizza, tacos, and empanadas. Which one do you want?" I looked at him.

"One of each please." He sat on the counter top.

"Of course..." I rolled my eyes. I got out everything and started to heat it up.

"Come here," Austin opened his arms to show his invitation. I ran to him because it was still freezing and I was shivering my ass off. I was right when I thought he was warm in his leather jacket. He wrapped his arms around me and laid his head on top of mine. We stayed in that position until the stove timer went off. I walked over to the stove to stop the beeping and turned it off. I opened the stove door to check if the food was hot enough.

"Ok come and get it," I said to him as I walked upstairs to my room.

"You don't want any?" He asked as he walked into my room with his plate of food.

"Nope" I responded as I fell onto my bed, trying to find shapes on the ceiling. I felt the bed dip and heard styrofoam rubbing against polished wood. I turned my head, only to have my nose touch Austin's.

"Please, all you ate today was a bag of chips."

"That was pretty fulfilling, if you ask me." I defended.

"Hm, I didn't." I heard the front door open and someone coming upstairs.

"Hey, when you two are done cuddling. I need money, I have pay my dealer." My sister Maddie said in the doorway.

"You know where the stash is..." I told her still looking at the ceiling.

"Are you really that dumb enough to not pay your dealer upfront?" Austin taunted her. I admit, it does sound pretty stupid.

"Wait!" I sat upright. "How much do you owe him?" I stared at her before she took money out of the stash.

"20" I honestly thought it wasn't that bad.

"Just take it before he threatens mom and dad again." Austin looked between my sister and I as if we had monkeys coming out of our noses.

"You're seriously okay with this?" He asked bewildered.

"We've done this long enough for me to only ask about the debt..."

"Okay I'm leaving now. And I promise I'll put back what I took out." Maddie promised as she walked out. Austin got up, closed my bedroom door and turned back to me. I waited for him to start his rant and started thinking of a place where I could interrupt. But he surprised me by only saying a statement and a question.

"Not only has he already threatened your family but you've done this before with him?" It looked like he was about to turn into the Hulk.

"Yea. It's every other day when I have to hear from Maddie that she owns him money or something like that. I learned how to handle it so that my parents won't find out." I was tried of saying that. I have explained my reason for doing what I just did to too many people.
