I barely recognized the woman in the reflection of the old antiqued mirror on my dresser. When I had moved back to Canadian a few months ago I had no idea the direction that my life would take.
The people that I would meet that would form my world; my family, blood or otherwise. And now I was getting married.
Between Charity's light but natural makeup I felt like a true beauty. My brows were perfectly shaped; keeping their natural form and darkened just a little they looked beautiful.
The apples of my cheeks somehow looked flawless, almost like they could cut glass and she had applied a peachy color to them which helped maintain the natural color I'd been born with.
The eye shadow she used had peach and earth tones and had been blended to perfection; the only other thing to make my eyes pop was the eye liner and mascara.
And to finalize the look of my face she used a glossy peach lip color and while my mama had raised me to be just as beautiful on the inside I couldn't help but be appreciative of the woman I had been transformed into today.
My eyes caught Charity looking at me, smiling and I couldn't help but return the sentiment. Turning I faced her place my hands in hers. An unspoken word traveled between us and I knew immediately just as I had formed that relationship with Tammi Sue and Belynda, Charity was now a part of that group as well. And I suspected that we would both benefit from the newly formed camaraderie.
Next would be Tammi Sue tending to my tresses. I had opted for no veil so whatever she had planned for my hair would have to be eye catching and knowing Tammi Sue I would get nothing less.
"Alright Ms. Priss park your booty right here and let me get started. We have one hour and fifteen minutes until show time!"
I knew that she was doing some type of braid but nothing would prepare me for what the finish product looked like.
It was almost like a French braid but she had pulled the braids out making them look fuller and somehow wavy at the same time. She then added a pearled head piece that was placed on the right side; the look was gorgeous and classy, yet simple; exactly what I wanted.
She instructed me to hold up a small hand towel in front of my face while she spritzed on product to keep each strand in place.
Handing me the hand mirror so I could see her handiwork my hand flew in front of my mouth; speechless at how beautiful she had made my hair look.
"Oh Tammi Sue" I breathed while trying desperately to keep from breaking down and ruining my makeup.
After hugging her I took a quick look around my small but adequate bedroom; looking at the sisters that had gathered around me to help me celebrate this beautiful day.
For the undergarments I had decided plain, yet elegant was the call of the day and they consisted of white lace panties that hugged my lower frame beautifully and a strapless, white and lace corset; and of course my brown cowboy boots would be worn underneath my dress.
