Bo was a godsend. No other way to look at it. He had calmed my nerves, comforted me and helped me do right by my folks and when we had finished that task, he came back and had lunch with me, we cleaned up the kitchen together and then showered. We were going to The Rose and to tell the truth, I was looking forward to it.
I needed to sing, to dance and be with Bo, Tuck and the rest of my friends. Bo had his arm around me as we drove towards the bar, his thumb stroking the side of my arm.
"You look gorgeous" he told me, leaning over and kissing my cheek. I was wearing a strapless floral dress, that came a little past my knees, brown cowboy boots and sunflower earrings.
The parking lot was full, and it looked like Tammi Sue was getting good business tonight and I was so happy for her. Running a business is just like runnin a ranch. It's hard.
Everyone greeted us when we walked in, Bo gripping my hand as we walked to our table, stopping and talking to people along the way.
I didn't miss the glaring daggers I was getting from Charity and neither did anyone else for that matter, but I didn't care, Bo was my man and he made me happy and I was pretty sure I made him happy as well.
We received hugs from Tuck, Belynda, Randy, Walker and Luke, then Bo took drink orders and headed off to see Tammi Sue and her bartenders.
"So" Tuck began, grinning hard at me. I just bumped his arm and grinned back. "I'm happy for ya sis, but if he hurts you, Katy bar the door, I will whoop his a*s" Tuck reiterated.
I just laughed and shook my head as Bo returned with our shots and beers and it didn't take long before we were having a great time.
Two shots and two beers in, the house band called out. "If y'all want some great music, put yer hands together for Ms. Mercy Rae and see if you can get her up here."
I just shook my head while the gang pushed me to go, so finally I got up amidst the claps and made my way to the stage.
Once I'd given the my choice, I turned to the mic and called for all the ladies to take to the floor. "Come on ladies! All of ya'll" I said looking right at Charity and after a bit she shrugged and joined the rest of the ladies.
The music started. "Let's go girls" I started and the place blew up as I belted out Shania Twain's Man! I Feel Like A Woman.
I was so proud of the ladies breaking into an amazing line dance while I pranced and danced along with them on stage.
The applause was thundering when I finished and then I was asked for one more and picked one that everyone could dance to. Dierks Bentley Flatliner.
The floor filled up, Bo was right in the front and I got the chance to watch him line dance and I've never felt hotter for anyone in my life.
The way his a*s looked in his Wranglers, the way he looked at me from under his hat, damn hotter than a junebug in the summer.
The night when on amazingly well and when we'd been there a couple of hours, Walker suggested we go down to the lake and continue our party.
He leaned over and asked me if I minded Charity coming along. "Walker, is she interested in you? Or is she comin to get closer to Bo? I won't have her usin you darlin. That's not right." I told him, concerned.
"I appreciate that Merc, but she wants to come to be with me. Trust me, I had a long talk with her about Bo and how she's to treat you. She's all good." I looked at his smiling face and crumbled.
He let out a holler and went and grabbed Charity's arm, whispered something and I swear that was a genuine smile on her face when she looked me, so I gave her one right back.
After scooting into the front seat of Bo's truck, he grabbed me and kissed the hell out of me, leaving my lips aching as well as between my legs.
"What was that for?" I asked softly. He flashed me that heart stopping grin, buckled and threw the truck into reverse. "Because I can." I giggled at him as we followed Tuck.
There was a fire going already at the lake and the guys all backed their trucks up to the fire and in a circle, so we could put the tailgates down.
Tuck's truck had the great sound system, so the radio was blaring from his truck and then Bo grabbed my hand and stood me up in the back of his truck.
Our song Heaven by Jake Owen came on and Bo wanted to dance with me. I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing him hum or sing those lyrics for me.
Some of the other couples followed suit but as far as I was concerned, it was only Bo and I, here dancing in each other's arms and I wanted that forever.
Bo was my forever, I knew it and I was pretty sure he did as well. We just wanted to both be a hundred percent sure before we uttered something that couldn't be taken back.
Tonight was ours though, and the next night. We owned the night like we owned each other's bodies and hearts.
I would never belong to anyone else. Brody Robertson is my forever and I hope I'm his.
