Chapter 4

"So, You wanna go meet the family?"I asked with a small smile on my lips. I looked at her and she was smiling widely.

"Of course." She said "But, I have to shut down here so do you mind waiting?" She asked kind of nervously. She probably thinks i'm gonna leave without her. But sucks for her casue I have a felling I will never leave her.

"No problem" I said. She smiled and went to the back to grab her stuff. Afterwards she came out put her stuff on one of the chairs and went to go clean up the main checkout counter thing. I got up, took a last sip from my drink and went to go help her clean. I got one of the towels and started to wipe off all the stuff on one of the counters.

"You don't have to do that, your a customer, you just go sit back down" she said taking the towel out of my hand.

"but I am your friend, well at least I hope I'm your friend." I said looking at her for reassurance. She just smiled and nodded."Well, friends help each other out." I said taking the towel back and scooting her away from the counter. She just laughed. The sound of her laugh was amazing, it was as if it was Christmas morning again when you are like five and you find that big kid red bike under the tree. I actually felt that happy again because her voice was full of so much joy. I looked up at her when I was about done and saw her leaning on another counter finishing doing the dishes. When I  was done I just turned and looked at her with her back facing towards me.

"Take a picture, it lasts longer " she said. I chuckled a little because she had caught me staring at her perfectly shaped ass. When she finished up she grabbed her coat and pulled it on then grabbed her bag.

"WHy do you have your backpack?"I asked, I mean it's like 11' oclock at night she probably started her shift at 6 or something.

"Oh, I come here right after school."She said.

"Then why do you stay so late?" I asked

"Because if I don't work over time, who's gonna pay the bills?" She asked. She pays her own bills? How old is she again? She looks only 17 years old but then again all half breeds do cause we stop aging.

"How old are you?"I asked, voicing my thoughts aloud.

"16 going on 17 in a few months" She stated matter of factly."I pay the bills cause I ran away from home, I can't exactly send my bills to my dad and basically giving my hiding spot away."

"Is it hard to do that, I mean you have to go to school tommorrow and you stay up so late." I asked

"Yea, I guess, but its better this way free food from the cafe and the pays pretty good then I go back to my apartment which is right across the street" she said pointing to the building across the street.

"Well what about winter break don't you get a day off or something for Christmas." I asked I mean come on it was Christmas eve.

"Well yea I do get winter break but I'm trying to get my diploma early so I can stop worrying about school and focus on more important things like how to stay hidden." She said. Oh, okay now I get it, she goes to school in winter break so she can get her diploma faster.

"So, when are you gonna get your diploma?" I asked 

"Actually ,I got it today so that's why I'm moving in about a week. I just need to get some more money then I'm out of here." she said

"Well, what are you doing tomorrow?" I said, walking her to my car.

"Work" she said nonchalantly

"work?  Seriously, your going to spend Christmas doing work and doing boring things?"

"Well, yea I don't have any family to spend it with" she said looking down a little. I opened my car door and held it out for her "Thanks" she said with a small smile, I smiled back and got to the other side of the car.

"You know, If you want, you can spend Christmas with me and my family." I said looking at her hopefully. 

She looked up at me and smiled."I would love to."She said.

"Well don't tell me your answer now because you might not like them cause they are kinda crazy."I said letting out a chuckle while starting the engine and heading home.

"Hey," She said slapping my arm playfully"Don't say that they are your family, I bet they are the sweetest vampires alive, well they aren't really alive alive are they/"She said with a thoughtful expression on her face which just made me laugh even more because of how adorable she looked. After she looked up at me she crossed her arms over her chest and looked out of the window. I think she's mad, good thing I was raised mostly by women so I know exactly what to do.

"Hey, look I'm sorry I laughed but I couldn't help it you look so adorable when you look thoughtful." I said. When I took my eyes off of the road and stared into her eyes and saw her blush a little and she started to smile a little.

"Well, thank you" She said "By the way I like your car."

"Thanks I said pulling up into the forest type of fence that we have around our house. When I got in I saw the huge house and I'm guessing she saw it too cause she gasped and said"It's beautiful"

"Yeah, My grandma Esme designed it." I said while getting out of the car and running to her side so I could open the door for her. She nervously got out and started fiddling with her clothes.

"Do you think they will like me?" She asked, looking up at me. 

I gave her a reassuring smile and said."Of course they will, What's not to like? You're Beautiful and smart and really adorable." I said making her blush even more but I noticed her muscles relax a little. I put my hand on the small of her back and led her to the front door. She took my hand that was on her back and held it tightly to her hand. I looked down at her and smiled, she was so beautiful. Sometimes I wish the world could just freeze and we could stay like that forever, just her and me, under the moonlight.
