Chapter 7

Katniss’ POV

I woke up in the morning feeling wide awake and ready for Christmas. Even though I haven’t celebrated for the last six years, something told me that today would be different. I got up and looked around the pristine room and found that everything that happened yesterday wasn’t a dream. The Cullens weren’t a dream, the amazing room wasn’t a dream, and most of all, Edward wasn’t a dream.

I couldn’t help but smile at the thought of him. He was so sweet and nice not to mention he wasn’t too bad on the eyes as well. He had welcomed me into his home and so did his family. I  had heard of the Cullens from my father. He had said they were a rebellious coven of self-absorbed vampires who thought themselves as superiors due to their yellow eyes. After last night, I couldn’t help but think how wrong my father and his coven were.

The Cullens were nothing but a nice family who didn’t believe in the horrid and vile things my father did. I had never drunk from a human. Although they would try to force me I would always refuse and I would just live off of the small meals of human food they would give me. After laying in bed for a couple of more minutes I heard footsteps coming to my door.

“Merry Christmas!!!!” someone screeched while laughing. Nessie got up and started to jump up and down on my bed.”Get up sleepy head it’s time for presents “she said.

“I’m up ” I said getting up and heading towards the bathroom. I quickly brushed my teeth with the new tooth brush placed on the sink in the immaculate bathroom attached to the room given to me. I washed my face and came out only to see that Nessie was gone and in her place was Edward. He was sitting on the edge of the bed in red and green flannel pajama bottoms and a plain white shirt showing off his big muscles. I blushed when I realized I was staring at his gorgeous body. I quickly looked up at his face and realized I wasn’t looking at the same Edward. This Edward had neon green hair. I couldn’t help but widen my eyes in surprise.

“You have green hair” I said shocked. He just looked at me and smirked.

“Yeah, it’s my gift. I’m a metamorphamagus” he said. He got up and walked towards me. ”It’s a gift where I can change any feature of my body to resemble any other living thing so I can disguise myself as you if you want” he said and his hair started to become longer and turn brown.

“No!” I said, he looked confused for a second and then changed back to himself. “It’s weird don’t turn into me make your hair pink” I said not wanting him to see my body before I knew he had feelings for me. After a second his hair turned hot pink. I couldn’t help but be completely awestruck. Before I realized what I was doing, I put my hand into his hair and began to stroke it softly. It was the softest thing I had ever felt. His hair was so amazing.

“You know everyone is waiting for us downstairs, its 9 in the morning and some people can’t help but be a little impatient.” He said. I quickly blushed and then pulled my hand back.

“I heard that!” yelled Nessie from downstairs. I chuckled a bit and quickly followed Edward as he led the way downstairs.

“Finally!” Nessie said as Edward and I walked into the TV lounge and then sat on the sofa together. In the side of the room was a ten foot tall Christmas tree with twinkling lights and ornament hung on it. Overnight the entire room had been transformed into a Santa Clause’s home, complete with snow outside the magnificent glass wall, a fire burning in the fireplace to make the room look more cozy and gingerbread men cookies on the coffee table in the middle of the room.

Renesme was sat on the floor with Jacob sitting next to her and all the adults on the couches around the room. Presents were hidden under the tree and it seemed as if everyone had been waiting for our arrival.

“Ok let’s get this party started” said Nessie as she grabbed a present from under the tree. In a few minutes all the presents were distributed to their rightful owners. To my surprise I also had quite a few presents myself.

“So, I’ll start because I’m the youngest other than Katniss but I’ll do it first just to show her how its done” Nessie said happily. Everyone laughed at her poor attempt to reason for her right to open presents first.

“Sweetheart, everyone knows how to unwrap wrapping paper you’re only demonstrating because you want to go first.” Jacob reasoned which caused everyone to laugh again.

“You know me so well” replied Nessie as she started to unwrap her first present which was a necklace that had a werewolf on it from her husband. After that everyone else started to open their presents simultaneously. Curious, I opened the first box I had gotten, inside was a photo album and a camera that had come from none other than Bella and Edward Sr. On the card it said,

Dearest Katniss,

Hope you enjoy your present, it is the same thing my mother and father gave me for my 18th birthday. I hope you use it well to capture moments of your life that you would never want to forget with your new family.

I couldn’t stop smiling after that. These complete strangers had brought me into their home with no expectations from me and now they were showering me in gifts that meant so much more than they ever intended. I had never gotten a single present from my father other than my mother’s things which she had left me. Bella and Edward were not my parents but they did act like it which made me so happy. I quickly got up and went over to Bella and hugged her.

“Thank you” I whispered into her ear.
