Chapter 9

Jackie’s POV

I screamed as soon as I saw the giant monster gran Jason. “Run,” he told Nefertiti and me weakly, “Run,” I had a feeling that those words would be the last ones I heard from him in a while. I turned around to look at Nefertiti and we immediately knew that Jason was correct, we should run.

“What WAS that?” I asked Nefertiti while gasping for breath, “It looked like a Rottweiler the size of a TANK!”

“That was a HELLHOUND!” Nefertiti explained, “It is a dog that comes from the Underworld. It looks like a Rottweiler and can get to be the size of a skyscraper!” That made me even more worried.

“Will Jason be okay?” I asked on the brink of tears. I had actually grown attached to him.  Nefertiti looked grim.

“I would love to stay optimistic,” Nefertiti started, “but I’m not sure I can without lying,” We ran for another ten minutes in silence except for the sounds of us panting. Finally we stopped.

“What’s going on?!” I asked, “What are you doing?” Nefertiti was kneeling and muttering some words.

“Oh, Ra,” Nefertiti started, “I ask you and the other almighty gods and goddesses of  Egypt to please help me and this woman know what to do, Jason trusted me and I am here to help, the rest is all up to you. Let me know how to help Jason,” All of a sudden Nefertiti collapsed and I heard a clap of thunder and a powerful voice boomed.

“Nefertiti and Jacqueline Van Horn,” the voice started, “I have watched over you and have been impressed by your hard work, I will tell you a way to save your friend. Jacqueline has Jason’s bottle, call him back. I will talk to you again when you have received him. Good Luck and never lose faith in your Gods and Goddesses!” and with that the sky cleared and all was silent. I stood there for a moment stunned. Could getting Jason back really be that easy? It was worth a shot, unless it was a trap from that evil guy with the red tunnel of sand. What was his name, Sam? Sal? I thought for a few moments, and then it came to me. His name was SET!!!

“Ms. Van Horn?” Nefertiti said, “Are you okay?” I suddenly snapped out of my trance and shook my head.

“Yeah,” I lied, “I’m perfectly fine, now let’s get Jason back” And I reached into my bag and took out Jason’s bottle and opened it. “Okay,” I started, “Jason, can you please come here? I really need you! Come on! Come here, I have your bottle and I NEED you to come here!” I stared at the bottle for a few moments, but nothing happened. “It didn’t work,” I said as I started to cry. “How are we supposed to save Casey now?!”I screamed with tears flowing down my face. I couldn’t believe that I would never see my daughter again. Al of a sudden I heard a very familiar voice.

“Jackie,” he said, “why are you crying? What’s wrong?” I looked up with tears still flowing down my face to see Jason.

“Jason!” I screamed with joy, “You’re back! You’re ALIVE!!!” I was giving him a massive bear hug and when I finally let go he took a moment to find his breath and looked at me with a puzzled expression.

“Who’s Jason?” He said with a confused but serious look on his face. All I could do was stare at him and try to find a lie or a joke in his eyes and face, but I found nothing.
