Devin's POV

------------------

I groaned at the sight of the sun beaming down into my room. I usually leave my curtains open since no one has lived in the room next door to me. I walked over to the window looking at the Jackson's,Klaus was being rather rowdier today. A girl was following Klaus into the house. Should I call 911 or do they know her? The Jackson's never have company over and if they do its usually us the Summers.

I Devin Summers haven't talked in quite a while. 3 years to be exact. I'm classified as... I'm not really classified I don't have any friends. I don't try to make any. I keep the walls around me high and impenetrable. A person very close to me has stabbed me in the back before, and I don't trust anyone. But I want to change my ways this year. And I'm not going to be the first one to talk. If its not verbally I wouldn't mind.

Klaus and the new girl walked into the room next door which I have a clear sight of. Klaus smiled at me, he was like a brother to me but I parted from him because of family issues. The girl was busy running back and forth around the room. She looked like a complete retard. I sat on the seat next to my window and grabbed a dry erase board and a black magic marker. She sat on the seat on her room next to the window with a book and headphones.

'Hi I'm Devin Summers, who are you?' I wrote down on my board. I tapped my window trying to make noise that would grab her attention. She turned to face me and she smiled. She was stunning her hair was black and her eyes were blue or gray one of those colors. She was wearing glasses that were big on her face but it fit her. I showed her my board and she skimmed through it. She held up her finger signaling for me to wait.

She came back with a whiteboard of her own and wrote down something. She showed me it said 'Hello Devin Im Layla. The Jackson's are my new foster parents.' Foster parents!? Wow so I would be seeing he for quite a while. 'Where'd you come from?'

'Baltimore Maryland, how about you?'

'Born and raised in Orange County :)'

'Are you one of those stuck up jocks at school?' I frowned at her question, I had absolutely no friends. I realized she was waiting for a response and I nodded no.

'Sorry for asking have some bad experiences with them' she held the board up to the window.

'It's alright, I'm a loner'

'I am too'

"Devin! Can you come downstairs please I need help moving some boxes to the basement" my mother called.

'Got to go help my mom, talk to you later?' I pressed the boar against the window. And Layla nodded understandingly, she continued to read.

I looked down and noticed I wasn't wearing a shirt. Oh god! Did Layla notice!? I ran a hand through my hair and tossed on a red shirt. Flying down the stairs two steps at a time I made it to the kitchen.

"Hey Devin the boxes are in the living room take them to the basement" I nodded and walked to the living room. I got curious and opened one of the boxes and saw all my brothers old belongings. I immediately closed it and took the box to the basement. I stood their with my eyes closed trying to stop my tears. I ran back upstairs and waited for my mom to notice me. "All done?" I nodded and ran back up to my room.

Looking out my window I checked if Layla was still there. Instead of her presence I was greeted by a message on the board.

'Got to shower.' I thought about that statement, I didn't shower either. I probably looked like a slob. I sighed and walked to my bathroom and showered. When I got out I wrapped my towel around my waist and went to go get clothes. I felt eyes on me and I looked out my window. I saw Layla sitting by her window her eyes widened. I walked into the bathroom with my clothes in my hands but not before I gave her one of my dazzling smiles.
