Devin's POV
&&&&&&&
Sniffling noises woke me up from my slumber. Looking over to find the noise I saw Layla crying. Grabbing my pencil and sketch pad, I drew her. Her head buried in her knees only showing her blue eyes. She looked completely...broken but absolutely beautiful. After I finished I grabbed my whiteboard and wrote 'Pretty little lady with those swollen eyes would you show them to me?' I tapped on my window and she looked up showing her beautiful eyes. Layla read the board and smiled. She left the window and grabbed her whiteboard. 'Of mice & men'. She wiped her eyes with her sleeve and smiled at me. 'What's your story?' I didn't want to tell anyone my story. It's dark. I wrote down on my board 'Same as anyone else's' I lied.
'What would anyone else's story be Devin?' My heart started to race. The walls started to enclose on me. It felt likes a thousand needles attacked me all at once. My breathing escalated. Images of my brother struck me. When I walked into his room... I saw my older brother Shane,hanging by a rope. He died, he committed suicide. I opened my eyes to see if Layla was watching me. Her were eyes full of pain.
'You get them too?' I nodded. I recovered and continued writing on my whiteboard.
'Goodnight Layla sweet dreams.' I closed my blinds for once. Holding on to the blinds I closed my eyes to stop the tears from falling.
"I miss you." I said slowly the 3 same words I say over and over. Wishing that it never happened. Wishing I can see my brother one last time convincing him to stop and think. I walked over to my desk and rummaged through some papers to find my journal.
I found the page I was looking for. The song that I know by heart. Lullabies by All Time Low. I hummed the whole song.
Make it a sweet, sweet goodbye
It could be for the last time and it's not right.
"Don't let yourself get in over your head, " he said.
Alone and far from home I'll find you...
Dead, like a candle you burned out;
Spill the wax over the spaces left in place of angry words.
Scream, to be heard, like you needed any more attention;
Throw the bottle, break the door, and disappear.
Sing me to sleep, I'll see you in my dreams,
Waiting to say, "I miss you. I'm so sorry."
Forever's never seemed so long as when you're not around
It's like a piece of me is missing.
I could have learned so much from you but what's left now?
Don't you realize you shot this family a world of pain?
Can't you see there could have been a happy ending we let go?
Sing me to sleep, I'll see you in my dreams,
Waiting to say, "I miss you. I'm so sorry."
Sing me to sleep.
Sing me to sleep.
Sing me to sleep.
Sing me to s...
Sing me to sleep (You've taken so much with you...)
I'll see you in my dreams, (But left the worst with me...),
Waiting to say, "I miss you. I'm so sorry."
I'm sorry, I'm sorry!
"I'm sorry!"I said a mere whisper.

Rubbing my eyes I looked at the clock it was 6:21 AM. I threw on a white tank top and slipped on my black converse. Running my hands through my hair I took my drawing book. I left my room and walked through the back door which lead to the beach. I sat on the warm sand and drew the sunset for what felt like the millionth time. Since I always do this every morning but, I just can't get tired of the beautiful sight. I passed through my previous drawing and regretted it. I ran into a picture of a horrid sight. The exact image of him hanging by a rope. Him my brother. I closed my book and ran into the water taking off my shirt. I just sat and sat at the bottom of the ocean. Waiting to see if anyone cared if I didn't come up.
