Layla's POV

I was sitting on the beach, the warm sand in between my feet. Just strumming my guitar because I had nothing better to do. But then a tall figure ran into the water. I was watching if he was going to come up but he didn't. I looked up seeing if a lifeguard saw but he was far away and he couldn't of seen the man go into the water. I dove in head first trying to find the person with my eyes closed. Feeling the water I found something that felt like and arm. I tugged on it and pulled the body to the beach. I looked down at the man. It wasn't a man it was a teenage boy, Devin to be exact. My neighbor. He wasn't breathing. I don't know CPR I'm completely and utterly useless. I pounded on his chest and Devin coughed up which seemed like a gallon of water. His eyes started to open slowly revealing his green eyes that were memorizing. All of the sudden his eyes shot up and he stared at me.

Did I have something on my face or something. I raised my eyebrow to show him that I was questioning him. He shook his head no and the corner of his lips turned up. His lips were slightly blue from not breathing earlier. Devin stood up and walked to what looked like a journal and his shirt. He motioned me to come over and I did with my guitar. He ripped a blank page out of his journal and wrote the word 'thank you'. I looked up to meet his eyes but he wouldn't meet mine. Snatching the pencil and journal I wrote down 2 words 'For what?' Devin looked up at me. Meeting his eyes I could see his soul he was hiding something. He looked back at the tides and pointed at them. 'For that' he mouthed. He then took his journal and wrote down 'I thought nobody cared'. I furrowed my eyebrows 'of course people care.'

I took out my guitar and started to play one of my favorite songs. Lullabies from All Time Low. I started to strum my guitar to the tune. A few seconds into the song Devin looked up at me with recognition. His eyes became teary and he ran off. I stopped playing and watched Devin away.
