CHAPTER 13

After the attack, Aiden regrouped the pack and helped The Orion's tend to their wounded, but Harris insisted we return to our own pack to inform them. But I think that was just a way to get us away so he could mourn for his clan mates.

On the way home, everyone was silent- even April and Scott didn't bicker- which I'm sure never happened... But everyone was too preoccupied with Faulkner's message...

"Bring me the weapon, or we will destroy you. You have no chance against us- all that you've seen is but a fraction of my Clan. Bring it to me."

What weapon? And what Weapon does a power-hungry clan of supernatural creatures need?

As we pulled up the drive of the pack house, Raffi and Chase rushed up to us, smiling, but as we all clambered out with sombre faces, the corners of their mouths turn down.

"Jamie, what happened?" chase hugged me tight.

Sighing, I looked towards Aiden. "They were attacked by the Faulkner 's'."

The room was stuffy and clammy from the amount of people that were in it. Everyone's voices were clamouring over each other, all trying to be the loudest.

"Enough!" Aiden slammed a hand down on his and of the table, sending tremors through the wood.

An elder shook her head, brow furrowed. "What did it mean though? We know nothing of a weapon!"

Sighing, my mate shook his head. "No we don't. But we should find out what they mean- if they find this weapon they will use it against us."

Suddenly, someone tumbled through the door, face red with effort and he was panting. "Alpha!" he bent forward, "A body has been found near the surgery."

Aiden bolted for the door, followed by myself, Nick, Raffi, his father and April. We ran through the woods until a putrid smell met my nose. Halting beside Aiden, my nose wrinkled as the vile scent crept its way up my nostrils. It was dank and cold, but dry and stale. It tunnelled into my brain and settled in the shadows. Blinking, I finally comprehended what lay on the ground.

It was Lillian- the nurse who helped heal Chase. Her warm coffee skin seemed grey and lifeless, and her eyes were empty and unforgiving. There was a stain on her headscarf, which was strewn casually on the floor, exposing her long dark hair, and two small scar-like punctures on her neck by her collar bone.

"Oh my Gods..." Raffi placed a hand over her mouth, wincing.

Nickoli shook his head. "The Faulkners..."

"They..." He blinked and looked away. "Are monsters."

His hand cupped my own shaking one. I felt vomit threatening to creep up my throat, my own emotions choking me.

"We need to stop them." Aiden growled firmly, forcing himself to look at Lillian's lifeless body. His royal blue eyes strained against the sight of his dead packmate.
