CHAPTER 20

"Jamie? Wake up, Kitty." Aiden's voice pulled me from darkness. I was laid on the sofa in the pack house, my head on Aiden's lap. My arm felt heavy and stung when I moved it to see a white bandage with a small fleck of blood on it.

"Don't worry, Alpha. " Julien said. "The wound isn't too deep; I think it was mainly the shock that incapacitated her."

"Emma- she escaped didn't she?" I asked, sitting up.

Aiden nodded sadly. "And before we learned of her plan fully. But I think we can assume that her experiment- the one she wanted a child for- has something to do with the weapon. "

Nodding, I agreed. "Yeah- but who is the weapon? It can't be me."

"I don't think it is, by the sounds of it." William said. "Maybe you were just a part in her plan..."

"Alpha?" April entered the room. She smiled at me. "The rogues are here to speak with you."

"Rogues?" I queered.

"As Faulkner's clan retreated, a few rogue werewolves helped drive them out. In return we have offered them safety within our pack." He smiled a little. "They did us a great service."

"Only one of them agreed, Alpha."

Nodding, Aiden waved his hand. "Bring him in."

April left and returned with a man. He was tall- not as tall as Will- with steely grey eyes, frost white hair and warm smile.

He bowed his head. "Alpha Aiden, I am grateful that you are allowing me into your pack... I never chose to be a rogue..."

"Then why are you a rogue?" Raffi asked.

"My pack was attacked one day- there were a few survivors- I think- but we were all separated."

Nickoli smiled. "So what's your name good lookin?" he asked, squeezing his stress ball.

William growled and put a protective arm around Nick, pulling him onto his lap.

"My name is Asher Slade, Alpha." He bowed his head again.

"Welcome to the pack, Asher."

He turned his grey eyes on me. "I hope you are ok? I see you were injured."

I smiled. "I'm fine. I feel pretty pathetic for passing out from that little bite..."

Aiden hugged me tight. "As long as you're safe is all that matters, Kitty."

"Someone so pretty shouldn't have been fighting in a battle with savage vampires." Asher said smoothly.

Surprised at his words, my eyes widened. "Er- I can protect myself."

Aiden growled at Asher and shuffled closer. "And if she can't then I will. She is my mate after all." He said, emphasising the 'my'.

Asher smiled. "Of course."

'I don't trust him... He's too flirty.' Leona mumbled. 'We are Aiden and Peter's alone.' She announced, mentioning Aiden's wolf spirit.

"April, show him to where he can stay." Aiden ordered.

"Thank you again, Alpha," He smiled at me, "Luna."

After he left, Nickoli started laughing. "He's a flirty one."

William frowned. "You aren't allowed to flirt." He nuzzled his face into Nick's hair and kissed his neck.

'Awww' Leona laughed.

"I don't like him anymore." Aiden said. "Maybe we should turn him away."

"You can't do that after you promised him a new home, " Chase mentioned. "just because he's a bit flirty, doesn't mean all the good he did is now worthless."

"I know..." Aiden relented. He kissed my ear. "But if he continues flirting I will make him regret it."

"Daft puppy." I laughed.
