CHAPTER 12
The curtains were thrown back violently and sun came glaring through. I winced and frowned.
'Why?! I was having such a good dream!' Leona snarled.
Aiden shook me, worry crystal on his face. "Jamie! Wake up and get dressed!"
I sat up in bed and looked around. "What? Why?"
He threw a sweatshirt and some jeans at me. "Please just get dressed!" His face contorted with stress.
I shuffled quickly into the clothes. "Ok let's go-"
"No!" I put my hands on my hips and stood firm. "What's going on?!"
Aiden rushed up to me and clasped my arms. "The Faulkner vampires are attacking- you need to get to safety!"
I gasped and my eyes widened. "No way- I can help fight!"
Aiden looked at me imploringly. "Please Jamie- I need you to be safe." He kissed my cheek gently. "I don't know what I'd do without you Kitty."
I nodded in understanding, but stayed firm. "I'm still fighting."
"Fine." His mouth set in a firm line. "But you will stay by my side."
"Fine."
Together, we rushed out into the opening outside the houses. Just like when they attacked the pack, furiously fighting bodies clashed together violently. Fangs flew as vampires bit at each other- although some had swords and other seemingly medieval weapons- but no guns were to be seen.
I heard screams of pain and winced as they pierced my ears like tiny knives. Amongst the fighting rabble, I could see the pelts of Scott, Robert, Thomas and Nick.
"Alpha! Luna!" April came bounding up to us. She had spatters of blood on her face and her eyes were glazed with adrenalin. As head warrior, she was in her element and a katana-like sword hung in her tight grip.
"April, are you ok?" Aiden asked.
She nodded and grinned a little. "Oh yeah." She spun and bounded back into battle, brandishing her sword with a fiery passion.
Then, I saw Daniel being thrown aside by a vampire who was spitting blood. She stormed up to him, her dyed red hair flying out behind like a cape, and grabbed him by the neck. Shifting quickly, with the familiar snap and pop of my bones, I ran up to them. Unsheathing my claws, I stuck the vampire making her drop Daniel.
She screamed as I raked my claws down her arm, making her run away. Aiden raced up to me, frowning. "Jamie I said stay by my side!"
I growled at him a little before jumping on another Faulkner. My flesh stung as he used a small knife and brought down over my flank. My blood spilled over my tawny fur as a metallic taste settled on my tongue. I yowled, my tail lashing and struck out at him, glaring into his green eyes. A rush of brown flew by, bowling into the vampire with a growl.
It was Aiden, snarling, his teeth flashing angrily.
Suddenly, the Faulkner vampires began to retreat. But then, there was a scream. My head whipped round, desperately trying to find the source of the scream.
A Faulkner vampire was stood on top of a rock, near the end of the clearing. In his arms was Cass, Harris's third in command. Her neck was hanging at a funny angle, making it clear that it was broken.
"Faulkner!" Harris suddenly emerged from the crowd, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"You've become weak you traitor!" The man, Faulkner, shouted. He had scruffy brown hair and wide hazel eyes- all swept and alight with fury. "You're a traitor to the species! Siding with those stinking mutts!" Aiden growled loudly.
"Get off of my territory! Get away from my clan!" Harris ordered.
Faulkner laughed maniacally. "Oh we will- but we have a request, well actually more of a demand." His eyes glared down. "Bring me the weapon, or we will destroy you. You have no chance against us- all that you've seen is but a fraction of my Clan. Bring it to me."
A heavy silence fell over the crowd as Faulkner turned and sped away, leaving Cass's body slumped on the rock.
