Kendall tightened his grip on Christina's waist as he cuddled her. Her arms came above her head as she yawned and slowly opened her eyes.
There was something odd about the way she woke up, she expected to see four walls around her and a ceiling on top. Instead she was greeted with a pink sky with a sunrise. She blinked twice and turned to the boy next to her. His green eyes were open and a smile grew on his face.
"Good morning." He smiled.
"Did we sleep here all night?" She asked, sitting up and grabbing the side of her head.
"If you mean five hours, yes, we did." He sat up, noticing her hand on her head, he leaned in and pulled her head to his shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"Just a headache." She said. She wasn't completely sure if the headache was the reason she sat up quickly or if it was just the idea of being in Kendall's arms. "I'll be okay." She added.
"Good, because I have this awesome day planned out for us after you rest." He smiled, standing up on the roof, giving her his hand.
Taking it, she was pulled up by him and they both climbed off the roof. "I'm completely fine." She felt her cheeks flush red. "What do we do first?"
"Eat breakfast, and go downtown." They both walked inside the bedroom, shutting the balcony doors close. Christina opened the bedroom door and both walked down the stairs.
She felt a wave of adrenaline rush. A feeling of being born again, of being immortal. Christina blinked twice before she realized what was making her feel that way. What made her feel so strong and untouchable. She turned to the green eyed boy next to her. He locked eyes with her as he returned a smile.
She felt in love.
Kendall took his time pulling out the pancake mix as Christina got the ingredients out of the refrigerator.
She was reaching the top cabinet above the stove. Kendall, walking to the refrigerator, feared he would lose his balance in the small kitchen. He placed one hand on Christina's hip just as the hem of her shirt rose up a few inches leaving bare skin for him to touch.
As soon as she felt his fingers press against her skin, she jumped up. Kendall did not notice he had scared the girl. By the time he turned back to her her dark eyes fixed on his face as she tried to figure out if his touch was intentional or not.
"Is everything okay?" He asked, he did not have the slightest clue. Christina shook her head. he went back to getting ingredients.
Christina, this vacation is your chance.. you have to tell him how you feel! She heard a small voice at the back of her head yell at her. She shook her head once more. No, don't tell him. You'll ruin your friendship. She answered herself. It's now or never; tell him NOW! She bit her lip and took in a deep breath.
"Kendall," She started, looking up at him. He turned and looked back at her.
"What's up?" He asked. Her heart raced as his green eyes scanned her face.
She shook her head, "I forgot." She turned to cracking an egg against the bowl and letting it ooze down into it. She reached for the other egg just before Kendall took her hands and made her face him.
"No, you didn't." He chuckled. Her heart fluttered again. "I know you, better than I know myself. You think living next door to you all my life, I wouldn't know something is wrong? A few months in New York doesn't give you enough time to change." He sighed as he rested his elbow on the counter and leaned over. "What's going on?"
Christina bit her lip and looked down. She couldn't face him. She couldn't tell him. "You haven't noticed?"
"Noticed what? Chris, you're scaring me." He begged. "Tell me. Is it school? Your parents? Are you being bullied?"
Christina shook her head. "It's really embarrassing and-"
"It's okay." Kendall insisted. "No matter how big it is, if you murdered someone, I will help you hide the body." He made a playful face that made him look serious. Christina laughed, and Kendall smiled. "If you don't tell me what is wrong I'm going to have to tickle the answer out of you."
Christina jumped back. "You know I get aggressive. I will hurt you."
"No you won't." Kendall took a step closer to her, reaching out to her. Christina quickly grabbed Kendall's wrists. He winced and Christina immediately let go of him. She looked down where her hands were moments ago. Kendall quickly pulled them back to his sides. Reaching in his pocket to pull his cellphone out.
As he answered the phone, Christina remembered the moment she grabbed his wrists, there was something uncomfortable about them. She thought it just could have been her, and looked down at her hands; they were perfectly fine.
He turned from the counter and hung up. "Let's cancel the homemade breakfast, let's go eat breakfast out. I want you to meet someone."
