Christina walked in the warm house, looking around the living room as the lights flickered on. She took in a deep breath and smiled. Turning around to see her best friend shut the front door.

"Nice place. Smells.... organic." She smiled. The blond haired boy placed the suitcase by the living room couch.

"Thank you. New house, new freedom. But I just wanted a little old smell that reminded me of back home . Oh, and I hope you don't mind but I made dinner for us." Kendall smiled, taking off his black coat, opening the hallway closet to hang it.

"Kendall, you shouldn't have! I was fine with a pizza or just a sandwich." She shrugged off her coat as she walked towards him.

"Too bad. My house, my rules." He grinned, taking her coat.

"So this means I am spending my spring vacation with you as a guardian?" She asked. Both heading over to the dinner table.

"Pretty much." He smiled. "No boys, no parties, no alcohol."

"You're a boy." She raised her eyebrow as she pulled the chair from under the table and took a seat.

"I'm not a college boy that wants to get in your pants. " He chuckled. "I'll be right back." He winked just before disappearing into the kitchen.

Christina sighed as she felt her face blush red. Maybe things would be easier if she had liked a college boy who sat next to her in class, not her long time best friend. The thought of her alone in his house for an entire week made her heart flutter and stomach turn. They were best friends.. Or he thought they were. Christina loved him with all her heart. But he didn't feel the same.

Kendall came back with two full plates and set them down on the table. "My famous steak with fries, some fruit, and corn for me and my girl." He sat down and bit his lip, looking at his friend.

Christina's eyes were fixed on the steak as she felt her stomach growl. "Oh."

"You don't like it?" His smile faded. "I could go bring you something-"

"No, no! I love your steak dinner. I just.. always thought your dad made them." She straightened her back as she looked around the house. "He's not here is he?"

Kendall let out a laugh, and Christina began to blush again. "You don't think I can cook?"

"I'm a little surprised I admit. I didn't think you were a chef type of guy." She giggled.

"Well try the steak!" He insisted. Christina cut a piece of the steak as she placed it in her mouth. It taster better than she could remember.

"Amazing." She began to cut a second piece.

Kendall already had his mouth full. "But you were right. My dad did make them, he just passed down the recipe and tonight was the first time I did it on my own."

"Pretty good for a beginner, Chef Kendall. I give it a ten." She smiled.

They had both spent time eating and having small conversations. Kendall had told her about a music project he had been working on ever since he made the big move from his parents' house. Christina had told him about adjusting to her new school. After dinner they both picked up their plates and headed over to the kitchen sink.

"Leave the dishes there. I need to show you something." He held out his hand, Christina took it with a smile as they both walked towards the staircase.

"The first night I slept here, I was obsessed with my bedroom balcony." Kendall opened the doors of his bedroom. His bedroom had light brown walls that made the room look warm. His cute organic bed was the only thing in the bedroom besides the pile of papers and a guitar leaning against the wall.

Kendall lead Christina out the doors of the bedroom and into the white balcony. They both took in a beautiful view of the beach at night. "This is beautiful." She whispered to herself. Watching the ocean waves crash against the white sand. The clear skies and the full moon made the entire place look magical.

"That's not even the best part." Kendall overheard her small comment. Christina turned to look at him but he was no longer in sight. "Up here." He spoke, she looked up to see Kendall sitting down on the edge of the roof. Her heart skipped a beat, the moonlight made Kendall's white shirt glow in the dark and his hair a faint gold glow. He looked like an angel.

Kendall extended his arm, offering a lift. Christina took it, already placing a foot on a black stool in the corner of the balcony, pushing herself up to place the other on the rail. She had crawled her way towards Kendall as he shifted himself further up the lightly steep roof. "So you do this every night?" She asked. He nodded.

"Well, as long as I am alone. If I have visitors I don't bring them up here. You're the only person who has been up here besides me." He leaned back, proping himself on one elbow looking at her.

"I feel honored." She smiled, wrapping her arms around her knees pulling them close to her chest.

He smiled back, "The honor is mine." He looked back over the roof, away from the beach scenario. "And if you don't feel like looking at the beach... the city of angels awaits."

Christina turned and followed his gaze, over on the other side, opposite of the beach view, was the city skyline. Her mouth dropped at amazement. "If I were you i'd never go back inside the house."

"We can be out here for a while." He moved over to her. Wrapping his arms around her he brought both of them to lie down. They both faced the thousands of stars in the dark sky, holding each other.

"I'd like that."
