Guys ive been doing so much mature content here's a sweet syrup chocolate chip with cherry on top chapter. :) Hope you like it!
I twirled my soft brown hair with my finger thoughtfully as i noisily slurped my double chocolate chip drink.
" i just really want that amazing guy you know?" I grumbled, the straw still in my mouth.
Caine, my boy bestfriend smiled sympathetically at me. " i totally understand."
We were in our favourite chocolate drink shop. He had a usual classic light latte and i had my clique thick chocolate beverage. The rain pelted against the large glass window we were sitting next to.
"You mean you want an amazing guy too?" i teased and chuckled when he realised his mistake.
"i meant a girl." He pouted, his green eyes twinkling over the top of his thick glasses. Caine was your average looking guy, he was tall and not overly large nor thin. He had well kept ginger hair that framed his face nicely. He was your typical nice guy.
"Im heading off to the loo." He chirped, standing up noisily. I nodded my head slightly, comfortable in the snuggly cafe arm chair having my knees brought up to my chest.
There was a small clank after a few minutes, snapping me out of my deep thoughts. I looked up at the big smiling face of the waitress.
"Hey there, are you and your boyfriend done?" She gestured towards the empty cup i had in my grasps. My mouth immediately released my half chewed straw to form an 'o' shape.
"He's not my boyfriend." I said defensively.
The waiter looked at me wide- eyed and nodding slowly. " Are you and your friend done?"
I felt like a complete idiot for not realising the main purpose of the question. I nodded quickly. That was when i realised Caine waiting to get into his seat, looming behind my seat.
"When'd you get out of the toilet? I didnt see you." I asked, tilting my head back to see him.
He shrugged. " a while ago."
He finished the last of his drink and we nodded to leave. The rain had lessened and our hoodies sufficed as a shelter from the cold and the wet weather.
"I love the wet weather!" I exclaimed loudly and twirling a little, not caring what anyone thought. The feeling of anti friction between my shoes and the pavement made me giddy with excitement.
"You'll slip." Caine warned as i twirled some more on the wet pavement.
"Thats it! I just want someone to catch me when i fall." I giggled and slipped.
A large arm anchored around my waist before i could face plant and i whirled around to thank my mate when i froze, staring up incredulously into a pair of wide green eyes. Caine was inches apart now, and all i could do was stare as he carefully planted me back on my two feet.
"I told you." He said huskily releasing my waist. I denied the urge to blush as my heart hammered against my chest.
I let out a nervous burst of chuckle and shrugged the wierd vibe off as we made our way into the apartment where we lived.
"Dont turn up your music too loud tonight, my finals are coming up soon." He reminded as he unlocked his door. I nodded unlocking my own door, that was just next to his.
Yep! We were next door neighbours too.
"I'll make sure to stick to volume 50 and above." I joked, sticking out my tongue childishly. He gave a playful glare and dissapeared into his apartment.
...
I bit my lip, thinking about Caine's green eyes as I turned my music on. The pan sizzled as i threw in some chopped onions.
The heat of his breath against my face...
The sizzling got louder.
And the feeling of his strong arms around my waist...
I threw in the mince beef absent mindedly as i lowered the heat.
I sighed looking through the counter bar that seperated the living room from the kitchen. The apartment was so lonely. I kinda wished it were more lively some times, someone in the room with me to make me laugh. My arm tingled for a while and I reached down to scratch my arm when i felt something soft instead. I glanced down, frowning.
An ear piercing scream cut through the air before realising that the scream was coming from me. The brown blur fell onto the floor next to my foot causing me to stumble back and hitting the back of my head against the overhead cupboards.
"MEREDITH WHATS WRONG?!" My hero rushed into the room, stumbling in his indoor socks. Caine found me balancing on the counter, tears staining my cheeks and a look of horror on my face.
"ITS A COCKROACH!!" I pointed out loudly, still stuck on the countertop away from the scuttling creepy crawly running towards Caine curiously.
A step was all it took for the bug to be eliminated and tissues were spared for disposing of the body.
" is it dead...?" I squeaked cautiously as i peered at the stain on the floor that Caine was wiping at.
"Its gone." My mate replied throwing the last tissue away. I sighed in relief as he grinned at me with amusment.
"You look terrified." He pointed out. Whats with us pointing out the obvious tonight?
"No shit sherlock." I replied with a duh tone when something made me melt with appreciation. I hopped down and ran to give my mate a hug.
"How was your studyin goin?" I asked, smiling warmly.
"It was-"
The faded sizzling in the background now became louder beknocking our attention to the black patch on the span.
"Shit." I cursed muttering loudly hissing at the sting when i touched the hot knobs. Caine being the quick thinker threw me a cloth that i wrapped around my hand as protection to turn the knob off.
I breathed a sigh of relief before shooting a wry smile at my buddy who grinned at me.
"im having pizza." He suggested and a warm fuzzy feeling of ultimate joy blossomed in my chest as i jumped and headed out the door to his.
"You're the best buddy ever!" I laughed as i glanced back to shoot him a wide smile. Caine smiled back with a soft look in his eyes.
"What else are best friends for?" He said.
...
"Isnt that Caine with Caila?" Evelyn my grocery shopping buddy chirped as we walked along the shops with at least three shopping bags.
I glanced up to where she was pointing and sure enough, caught Caine in his casual jeans and a button tee with the most popular girl in school.
"OHEMGEE! Are they dating??" The blonde girl next to me gasped with animation, her eyes wide as sausepans. We watched from the distance as the couple laughed about something.
The wind whipped past and the crowd around me seemed to blur into the background, my senses whirred and i swallowed a golf ball that had formed in the back of my throat.
I frowned and turned away, dragging the girl next to me along. "Lets leave them alone."
She nodded hesitantly, noticing the change in my mood.
That night was our usual hangout night together and i found myself putting on more makeup than usual. I ran my hands over the sides of the dress i wore that took me alot of effort to fit into. I knocked on the door and it swung open almost immediately. The smile on Caine's face disspiated as soon his eyes brows surfaced to the top of his face.
"He-hey?" Caine greeted catiously as he eyed my outfit once more. I blushed harder now that i felt ridiculous and looked at the floor instead.
"What're you watching?" I asked peeking at the screen, as i quickly walked past him. Probably some gore movie again.
Yep. He threw himself on the long couch and patted the seat next to him with a smile.
"Yeah. This weeks my turn to pick, so youre not allowed to complain.
My heart thumped a little too loudly as we sat in front of the tele.
I was too busy biting my lip, deep in thoughts to realise that he was leaning over to lie on top of my head like he usually did. But this time i jumped.
"Whats wrong?" He asked, puzzled as he pulled back to stare at me. The lights were off and the curtains were drawn, the only light was from the television flickering against his face.
"N-nothing." I stuttered unconvincingly as i forced myself to turn away from staring at how good looking my best friend looked in the dark.
The movie went by in a blur after that, it was too uncomfortable to watch with him this close to me. I felt everything, his every breath, the dip of the couch when he moved, then the low rumble in his throat when he laughed at the tele.
After an hour, i had to run back to my housr just to pee. I covered my face and groaned with fustrstion in the sink.
Why did i suddenly feel so shy about peeing in his apartment??
As i stepped out of the bathroom, i heard his laugh and an exchange of conversation. It had been a while since he'd laugh like that.
He must be on the phone... i thought to myself as i walked into the connecting living room. He was on his balcony, saying something on the phone again. There was a pause before another laugh followed.
I didnt know why i did what i did next.
I crept across my room towards my own balcony, thankful for the tiny opening between the siding doors that allowed me to listen to each word clearly.
The mention of a name made me freeze.
Caila.
I felt my lips downturn with displeasure as i frowned at the ground. He laughed again. Something painful ngawed at my heart, and each breath felt heavy and bothersome. I caught my own reflection in the sliding door and looked at how much makeup i had caked myself with. I felt like a fool...
"What was i thinking?" I thought out loud in my living room.
After a few more minutes, i found myself changing back into my usual casual jeans short and oversized tee. I glared at myself in the mirror as the image of Caila's flawless face rushed unto my head. Ugh.
I stormed out of my place, a whirl of emotions between a mix of anger and burning fustration as I pounded on Caine's door.
The door swung open and i inhaled deeply, remembering what i had to do.
I would thank him for the movie night and avoid him for a couple of days to cool down whatever was happening.
"Hey." His voice was husky as the door opened to reveal him leaning against the doorframe, large and handsome.
I felt my eyes widen, and my lips part. The feelings rushed back like a powerful inevitable impact, my heart skipped a beat and i felt my body move on its own accord.
Before i could understand what was happening, I had wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He stumbled backwards, and his back hit something. A low shelf maybe? Whatever it was, it stopped him from moving. He didnt respond at first, as I urged him, eyelids shut, my lips wet and inviting. His hand curled around my waist as if ready to push me away. They hardened and locked on my waist, while i braced for the impact to be shoved.
Instead his lips softened and responded. A wave of pleasure burst through my entire body. I moaned as we stumbled around to shut the door with his foot and back into his place, our limbs locked around each other. His back hit a solid wall this time, knocking off a picture frame. I moaned louder and we kissed harder, tougue against tongue, under, over and lips retreating while coming together at the same time in a wet blur. He picked me up, muscles bunching underneath me so i had my legs wrapped around his waist, feeling the heat against my own body. The room was hot and sweaty. My senses were spiked and every touch was electrifying.
Shit. This guy could kiss. I thought as i felt myself growing excruciatingly excited by the second.
"Meredith..." his voice raspy and odd, wavered solwly into my consiousness as we fell on top of the coffee table, broken glass on the floor. He was on top now, his arms clutching the sides of the table, face etched with passion and pain as he trailed butterfly kissed down my neck. I gasped sharply and threw my head back at the orgasmic shiver that racked through my body. I nails clawed into his back as i tried telling him what i wanted, what i needed.
"Are you sure?" He asked after a while. My eyes popped open, and my mouth formed an 'o' at his hesitation.
"What?" I asked hazily, trying to focus on what was happening.
"Wait. I can't." The warmth was ripped off my body like blankets on a cold morning. I covered myself, feeling naked as I stared st Caine with disbelief. What was happening?
"Excuse me?" I asked my senses in focus again, my teeth gritting at the pain that ripped through my chest.
"You're my best friend." Those words made me dash. A frenzy of tears and sadness threatening to fall out.
I ran past the bastard, legs flying.
Away from his house and into mine.
The bastard didnt even try to follow.
....
I spent the next two weeks avoiding him. He mustve done the same because i hadnt seen him at all.
"Thanks for letting me stay over." I said to Evelyn as we entered my place.
"No worries gee." She smiled then gave me a sympathetic hug. "Feel better okay?" The girl gave me a short squeeze.
I nodded and thanked her for everything before taking in the empty space.
I wonder if hes home? I thought as i wound the volume of my speakers up. The sun was setting and i trudged over my suitcases, stumbling in the dim room and finally found a switch.
The sharp light illuminated the room and i squinted at the sudden brightness.
"Now to pack the suitcases." I said aloud and moved to pick a handle. A quick blur moved underneath the coffee table and i glanced at it.
My blood went frozen cold when i saw it.
I screamed at the cockroach charging to me with determination from under the coffee table.
"WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU COME FROM??" I screamed at it and hopped around the room, clambering over the sofas and finally finding refuge on top of the fridge.
Dont ask me how i got there.
I have super powers when it comes to running away from cockroaches.
"MEREDITH WHATS WRONG?!" a voice bellowed and i looked up, my eyes meeting green eyes.
Caine was in the kitchen, his hair ruffled and his chest heaving. He looked as surprised as i was to see him standing there. Did Evelyn not lock the door?
After a few minutes of stunned silence and staring, Caine cocked his jead to a side.
"How the fuck did you get up there?" He asked raising a brow. I almost face palmed and would've if the fridge wasnt wobbling like jelly with every move i made.
"Just kill the cockroach and get me down." I ordered monotonously. The boy shrugged and arms scooped me up steadily before planting me back on the ground. A twinge of pain made my eyes glassy with tears again as i recalled how Caine picked me up in the rain.
He's always been the one all along... a squeezing feeling made me grab the hem of his shirt as i looked down st my feet.
"Im sorry." I said, finally looking up, tears glistening like crystals in my eyes. He was watching me quietly, arms still holding me. I bit my lower lip and exhaled shakily.
"I ruined everything. I-"
"I thought i was going mad." Caine interrupted as his arms pulled me in closer for a hug. " i saw you everywhere. I heard you in your house when you weren't there. I waited outside for days. I didnt know if you were okay."
By now i had stopped breathing and could barely believe what i was hearing.
He was looking for me..?
"But werent you mad that i ruined our friendship." I asked, my voice muffled against his shirt.
There was a soft chuckle before he spoke again, lips against my ear.
"I saw you as my bestfriend and the girl i loved ever since she first moved in next to me."
My eyes widened, and my heart skipped a beat. The hug tightened and I sniffled.
"You said you'd never see me as your boyfriend. Heck. You told me about every single man you ever liked and it hurt me every time."
Caine took a long hard breath, before continuing.
"And then you kissed me. What they hell was i suppose to do? What if you told me it was a mistake?"
I squirmed and pulled away. Caine was staring at the ground with such a morbid expression i almost wanted to laugh. Instead, i leaned in and kissed him.
