"See you later, Tomika," I waved her a goodbye as she climbed down my bike. She waved over her shoulder, her neatly pressed white button down shirt crinkling at the sleeves. She walked away, her plaid skirt swaying, and her brown ankle boots made small thuds against the gravel.

I eyed the waiter, who, greeted her with a smile. And boy, I swear she looked happy to see him. I slid my helmet on too hard, and started driving away.

When I was back at Red's house, he greeted me with coffee and a new challenge: A bet against the Finals between Spurs and the Warriors.

"Not another bet," I moaned, he always did these bets because he knows me pretty well to know that I suck at picking teams. But, I ended up sitting next to him on the couch. Red chose Spurs and I chose the Warriors.

After a few while, I noticed the Warriors were winning. Not bad, I guess, I wasn't losing this bet. The Warriors did a buzzerbeater and I totally exploded in joy.

"Yeah man! Whoo!" I celebrated, full on bragging on Red's shocked face.
"No chores for today, yeah man!"

I laughed my ass off, and Red seems annoyed. I gave him his phone and cleared my throat, "Servant for the day is, Mr. Red Reese!"

"Now, order two box of Hawaiian pizza for me," I gestured for his phone. He gave a defeated sigh and called for pizza delivery. As we waited, I bought chips from a convenience store nearby.

I set up the living room, took the two pizza boxes that just arrived hot and fresh. Red sorted movies out for us and we ended up watching, The Avengers.

After a few more movies, Red and I fell asleep. Hours later, I heard the door open and Tomika's voice was clear, "Thanks for dropping me off, Jet."

My mind swirled with questions. Who was Jet? And why is Tomika home already? She didn't even bother to text me to pick her up?

I stood up, rubbing my sleepy eyes. Tomika gave me a glare, and she quickly started cleaning wrappers of chips, and the box of pizza. She was silent as she worked, giving me occasional glares.

"What?" I asked her finally.

"I texted you two hours ago to pick me up," she snapped, dropping a handful of more chip wrappers. She seemed annoyed at the wrappers because she started stomping on it.

"Savage, Tomi," Red says sarcastically as he stood up. He walked up to her sister, who was fuming with anger.

"Shut up, Redric. I am sick of your sarcasm and your childishness. I was waiting for two whole hours, waiting for somebody to pick me up, so that I wouldn't freeze to death!" Tomika snaps again, looking up at her shocked brother.

"You never call me Redric unless your mad at me for hurting big bro," Red sniffles. What? They had a big brother?

They both looked stunned, then Tomika runs upstairs screaming, 'I'm so sorry.' I stood there, stunned and confused. Leading up my friend to the couch, he finally let out a huff of pained breath. He takes something from his pocket and lets me take a look at it.

It was a picture of their family, I saw Tomika and Red standing together, with arms around their shoulders. I spotted their mum, and a man who looks just like Red, I guessed was their old man. But another boy, who looked nothing like them at all with ash blonde hair and grey green eyes, standing beside Red.

"That was our big bro, Hero. He wasn't our blood-brother, but he was part of the family. Ever since, he regularly goes to visit our family, and Hero and I would always fight, then Tomi would always get mad and call me, 'Redric.' But after a few years, Hero got into the army. He served for two years, until he went missing on one of their missions. And he was never seen since. It really scarred both of us, ever since then," He says, his eyes in verge of tears. I held his shoulder, and told him I'd go to Tomika to check up on her. He nodded reluctantly.

I got to Tomika's room, she was standing by the balcony, still in her cafe uniform. Her ombrê hair blew with the harsh, cold wind, she held onto the railings of her balcony tightly that her knuckles were white. Little snowflakes started to gather at the top of her hair, and I could hear her speaking to herself, or probably to the moon.

"I miss him so much, Moony. Sometimes, I wished he turned down his opportunity on serving the army. But, sometimes, I feel too selfish for wishing that he would," I heard her say. "I wish I said 'I love you, big bro,' before he even left. I feel so heartless, Moony."

I quickly snaked my arms to her waist, and buried my face at the back of her neck. She shivered, but she didn't push away.

"Just this once, Zack. Please hold me. Hold me, like my life depends on you," she sobs, and I held her tighter.

"Tomika, is there ever a chance for me? Somewhere in your heart? I know, you just got back here, but this time... Are you willing to give me a chance?" I whispered.

She took one of my hands, "I can't answer that right now. But, please be willing to wait. I have too much pain to deal with in my life, and when I answer your question, I want to be sure. I can't lose you again boops. I've waited too long, but I still have to make things clear."

"I shall wait then," I retort, kissing her neck before leaving their house for the night.
