Keith and I walked side by side by the school's front garden. At first, we were silent. Eerily silent.
"I have something to tell you," We chorused, then we giggled. He nudged me, and insisted I go first, but I insisted as well that he go first.
"Let's just say it together on the count of three," I say, still giggling. I felt lightheaded and giddy, like I was the only girl on earth. Just for Keith.
"Alright, on three," He laughs. "One, two, three."
I scrunched my face, and we chorused, "Would you like to give us a new start?"
He looked at me, agape. I opened my eyes, "You were thinking the same thing?"
He nodded, and we laughed. We both hugged. A year has passed by, since we last broke up and I haven't noticed Keith growing up. He was so tall, that my face only reached his upper rib.
"Shortie," Keith teases me.
"Shut up, pretty boy," I grumbled through his uniform. He laughed and lowered his head.
"It's kinda' cute, though," he whispers, his warm breath tingled my ear, and I blushed unashamed.
I felt a gaze burn my neck, and I turned only to see nobody. Keith nudged me, and asked if there was something wrong. I shook my head, not wanting him to worry.
We went inside the school when the bell rang. Keith slipped his hand on mine tightly, and I looked up at him with a raised brow.
"I just want them to know you're already taken, don't want my girl stolen from me," he leans closer to me.
We swung the doors apart, as students quickly scrambled, looking for their respective classrooms. Keith walked me to my classroom, as we got inside, Summer gave me a confused look. Zack plastered a smile, and gave a small nod. Freddy was talking to Lawrence and they didn't see me coming in.
"So, see you at lunch, milady," Keith bows gently, before kissing the back of my hand. Then he leans again, to me, "Let's not be too clingy."
I laughed at his words and gave a nod. Suddenly, Mr. Finn came crashing through the open window. He was in a brown suit and he had a new guitar case strapped on his back like a samurai. I laughed nervously, then quickly ushered Keith out of the classroom.
Mr. Finn rose to his feet dramatically, as if he was ninja who jumped a hundred feet and has succesfully landed on the enemy's territory.
But, Summer ended his fun, "You're late. Again."
Mr. Finn gave her an I-don't-care shrug and sat on his chair with pride. I shook my head, then turned to Summer.
"So, you and Keith," she began as I sat next her. I nodded, and took my notebook and pen, just to avoid any further conversation. I didn't want to explain. Zack kept tapping his pencil against the edge of his desk, and that made me less calmer.
I started sketching instead. I drew the angle of the face. The eyes, the nose, and the lips. The symmetry of the face were absolute opposites. I furrowed my eyebrows, then tried doing the hair. The right side was dark haired, the left side was a little light haired.
I gasped, as I realized. It was Keith and Zack. The total opposites. I gulped loudly, and Summer peaked over my shoulder. And she wrote four letters on top of my sketch.
Who do you love?
I sighed, and knew this wasn't going to be easy. I looked at Summer and she just shrugged.
"What did you make?" Freddy came over to my table, but I covered the sketch swiftly so that he doesn't have the chance to see it. Unfortunately, my own best friend wasn't on my side, she snatched the sketch and gave it to her boyfriend.
"Wow, Toms," was all he could say before I snatched the sketch from them. I looked at Zack and blushed, he looked back at me with a confused expression.
"What's all the commotion, dudes?" Mr. Finn walked right up to us. I shook my head and my mind tried making up an excuse.
Instead of showing him the sketch I made, I quickly sang my newly made composition just a few seconds ago, when Summer wrote, 'Who do you Love?"
When I finished, I was panting and they all looked at me with confusion. Until Summer and Freddy both asked, "You composed that as quickly in three minutes?"
"I needed an excuse, duh," I hushed them.
Thankfully, it was lunch period. I quickly ran out, and got to the cafeteria. Keith wasn't still there, so I waited with the band.
Until, I saw Keith... I started standing up, and was about to call his name, but he was with someone.
Cassandra.
She sashayed to our table, with her arm slung on his. He looked at me with a mischievous grin, and he blew a kiss. If only that flying kiss was really floating towards me, I would've stabbed it already with a silver fork.
I couldn't take it. I was furious. I was out of control. I was tired. Tired of everything. I grabbed a carton of sour chocolate milk on one of the garbage can. Walked right up to Keith and threw the carton at his white crisp uniform and tie. Unfortunately for Cassandra, she managed to dodge the sour milk and gasp as dramatically as she could as if she cared.
"You deserve it, playboy," I growled,my teeth gnashed tightly until it felt numb.
"C'mon, guys," I beckoned to my friends, as other students watched me leave the cafeteria, bright red in fury.
I was so wrong. I shouldn't have done this. It made me look like a fool. I felt stupid.
Who do you love? My song came back to my head.
I didn't know anymore. I didn't even care if I knew. I just didn't want to care.
"You lied to her!" I heard a voice shout, it made me froze. And I realized Zack was still at the cafeteria.
Oh no.
I quickly ran back.
This won't end well, a voice whispered in my head.
