Sarah <3
I’m coming over in five to move into
my new room! :D
Good, I need someone
to distract me from Charlie.
Ice cream and Logan Lerman?
Not Logan Lerman. He looks
awfully like Charlie. How about
we go out for dinner instead?
Sounds great! I’m gonna be
at yours in five.
Stop texting while driving, girl!
I sighed at the empty room. The place where his posters of alternative bands used to hang on the walls of Charlie’s room were now a beige colour, with some residue left on the walls due to the sticky tape. His bookcase was now bookless, the only thing contained inside was about four month-worth dust. The fact that Christmas was coming right around the corner and that I wouldn’t be spending time with him in this exact room, in this exact apartment was a bit of a shocker. I would’ve thought that Charlie being Charlie would’ve made plans to come down and spend the holidays with me.
But that only happens in rare scenarios, and my scenarios were as rare as well-cooked steak.
Instead of spending a White Christmas Night with Charlie in our dorm, watching Disney Christmas Movies and sipping hot chocolate next to the Christmas Tree that we were going to put up together while listening to Christmas Carols, Luke, Rachael, Sarah and Gordie insisted that we go out to a local night club, the theme night being ‘A Very Merry Christmas’.
I smile as I shut the light of Charlie’s (now Sarah’s) bedroom, and once I finish mellowing in self-pity, I walk into my own lonely bedroom and walk over to the wardrobe, deciding what to wear for mine and Sarah’s dinner date. Before settling on a white, long sleeved blouse and a high-waisted black skirt, I hear my computer singing the familiar Skype ringtone.
“Hello?” I say, accepting the call from Charlie.
“Hello?” Charlie’s voice says, and the screen remains black. Stupid Internet connection
