Chapter 8
Surprise
---------------------------------------------
When I woke up the next morning. Blaze was still asleep next to me, his back facing me. I looked at my phone. No new messages from Jackass or my Dad. The time read 6:18.I got out of bed as carefully as possible, trying not to wake up Blaze. I walked downstairs and opened the fridge, as my stomach groaned and grumbled. I expected not to find much to eat, but I was shocked when I saw the fridge filled with food. Cheese, milk, soda, meat, all the things I eat. I stood there with my mouth open when I noticed a little paper sticking out between the milk and the coffee creamer. I grabbed it and unfolded it. I immediately recognized the messy handwriting; Jake Ryder's handwriting. I listened just to make sure Blaze wasn't awake yet and whispered the words aloud.
"Dear K,
Don't say I didn't do anything for you. You owe me. JR."Great. Just great. Me owing Jake usually ends very badly. This one time, Jake said that I owed him and he asked me for 10$ and I ended up giving him 50$. It makes m life a much bigger stress.
"Hey what's that?" Blaze emerged from the staircase. He was walking towards me.
"Oh. It's nothing. Just a note from someone." I crumpled the note and threw it on the counter, watching Blaze's actions, worried he'll grab the note.
That's exactly what he did. I lurched forward to try and grab it from his hands, but he was too fast and I had to quickly grip the counter to avoid falling flat on my face.
"Who's JR? Kayla please tell me. It's sounding like he's threatening you".
"Fine. I'll tell you. JR is Jake Ryder. You know him?" I questioned with a hint of anger creeping into my voice.
"Yeah." He paused and I didn't say anything. Then he began talking again. "I do know him. He's my half brother."
