AVO || Far from it
Focus. It was only one word but it takes great effort to achieve it. You have to empty your mind about everything except for your goal and you focus on it. You need to coordinate your mind with your will to achieve that goal. And my goal is to win. To win against Kevin in the basketball match.
I let go of the console and raised both my hands in happiness, "I win!"
Kevin groaned beside me as he slumped down on the sofa; letting his console fall on the soft matress.
"Judging by the look on your face, Liz won again." Sam walked towards us with the shake he made on the kitchen. He said it was his speciality.
"How come she's amazing at this game and you aren't?"
I snickered as I watched how Sam frowned at his nephew who was pouting beside me.
"Where'd you think she gets those amazing skills, Kev?" Sam sounded so offended as he stared at Kevin, "From her boyfriend, of course."
Kevin sat up straight and turned to Sam with a serious face, "No. You suck at this game, uncle."
Sam began to fight with his nephew while I kept laughing as I left them both on the living room. All Sam needs is some quality time with his nephew. I know he enjoys Kevin's presence. Same goes for Kevin.
My phone vibrated on my pocket and saw that Daphne was calling me. With a smile, I picked up the phone.
"Hi, Daph."
The first noise I heard was Adam arguing with Henry about a Math problem. I laughed how Henry sounds frustrated everytime Adam proves his point.
"Elizabeth!" Daphne greeted with enthusiasm as the noise of Adam and Henry slowly disappeared, "I'm sorry about the noise. You know how these two get when solving Math."
"Please, don't remind me of that subject," I groaned as I went to sit down on the chair placed on the terrace, "You know how much I suffered that subject."
"You mean, how much WE suffered that subject. That's why I let Henry do all the work when it comes to Adam's Math assignments." She laughed wickedly.
"You are a mean wife."
"Please, Henry loves me," She said cooly and a rustle was heard, "Sorry, I was trying to reach for the remote."
"Did you get it?"
"Nope. I'm too lazy to even lift a finger."
I laughed as I pulled my feet up close to my chest, "Being pregnant sucks."
"Actually, I'm loving the perks of being pregnant. Henry gets me everything I want because if he doesn't, I'll end up crying."
"I can't believe you," I chuckled, "Your poor husband."
"It's one of the perks of being pregnant, Liz. It's the hormones. Like I said, Henry loves me. That's why he married me. And speaking of marriage..." She trailed off and I can imagine the grin forming on her lips. I already know where this conversation is going.
"When will you and Sam exchange vows? I'm really looking forward to become a bridesmaid." I didn't miss the teasing tone laced with her voice.
"Soon, Daphne."
"Oh, come on! That's what you said the last time," she wailed, "If Sam doesn't get down on one knee anytime soon, I swear and I'll fly there and force him."
I laughed and stood up to lean on the railing, "Just give the guy time. Maybe he's still figuring out if what we have is forever."
"There is no forever, Elizabeth. There's just this thing called lifetime. So Sam better get started or I'll break his nose for you."
