Everything was going well as the days passed. It's been a week since Sam and I talked about marriage but it only feels like it happened yesterday. Which is why it was so hard for me to look at him properly. Whenever we would talk, it would end with my face flushed.
Sam, however, was taking advantage of the moment. He loved every minute of my embarassment. When I was being tough to deal with, he would deliberately mention the conversation we had about marriage. And instantly, I would forget about what I was fighting for.
The only time I could get back at him was through Kevin. Sam had no chance in winning an argument against Kevin. So I would tell Kevin a few minor secrets Sam originally intended to keep. And it was a successful plan. So I always invited Kevin over.
Like now.
"Hey, will you stop eating all the chips?! The movie hasn't even started yet!"
I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing. The sound of Sam's frustration was like music to my ears. It was so fun after everything he's done to me.
"But I'm hungry!" Kevin complained as he snatched another handful of chips.
Sam slapped his hand but it didn't stop Kevin from putting everything in his mouth.
"Go make some for yourself, kid."
I gave Kevin a sweet smile when he turned to me, "He's not letting me eat, Ellie."
My eyes trailed up towards Sam who was shooting daggers at the both of us.
"Come on, Sam," I frowned at him, "Kevin only gets to do this every weekend when there's no school. Cut him some slack."
Sam wanted to argue more but it was covered by Kevin's scream, "Yehey! Thank you, Ellie!"
Kevin was completely oblivious to the fact that Sam was drilling holes at the back of his head. I shrugged when his eyes met mine. That's what you get.
After finishing two movies, Kevin was already asleep on the sofa. My eyes were slowly falling and I was too tired to look at what Sam's doing. Kevin was lying on my lap and when he moved, I managed to open my eyes. To my surprise, Sam was kneeling right in front of me with a lazy smile on his face and his chin resting on his palm.
"What?"
He smiled widely, "You look cute."
I pouted to hide the smile that wants to take over my lips and looked down at Kevin who was snoring lightly. Sam stood up and gently put his arms under Kevin's knees and under his neck; gently lifting him up.
"What are you doing?" I asked and rubbed my eyes.
"I'll take him to the other room so he can sleep comfortably."
I could only nod as I watch him carry Kevin away. I leaned back on the sofa and closed my eyes. Why does it feel good to sleep?
I only opened my eyes when I felt myself being lifted off the couch. Suddenly, the drowsiness I was feeling disappeared as I looked at Sam with wide eyes.
"What are you doing?!" Panic was evident in my voice.
"You think I'm just gonna let you sleep on the couch?" He teased as he gave me a quick kiss on the head, "My queen deserves every inch of the bed."
"What about Kevin?"
"I'll take care of Kevin when Sarah comes. You will sleep in the room since you are tired. I'll join you later." He bit his lip and winked at me before turning the knob of the door to our bedroom.
