AVO || the architect

Sam didn't ask further about my work the next day. He kept bringing up different topics for us to talk about while having breakfast but he was careful not to mention anything related to what we talked about yesterday and I was thankful for that. I don't think I can handle telling him another lie. He did drive me to the company though and left quickly.

"So, what are you gonna ask me today?" Christian asked.

I mentally groaned. To be honest, I have nothing to ask him now. It seems to me that I asked him all the essential questions needed yesterday. The only thing I really need now is the photos to show the progress of the project. That means I don't need to come here daily, or come here at all. I could just ask Christian to take a picture of the finished mansion and send it to me via email. But that doesn't feel right. That's my job after all.

"Uh, how about you tell me something about your team," I smiled, "How you came together, your first project. Were you friends or did you study at the same school?"

Christian seemed to be in deep thought for a moment before answering, "Well, the engineer is my longtime friend."

I realized it was better to ask Christian about anything rather than to walk with him in total silence. I don't really want any of us to bring up the odd conversation we keep on having. Thank goodness he didn't have that mysterious feeling around him when I arrived.

We circled the whole house once when Christian stops talking and then turns to me.

"And that is the whole story behind me and my whole team," he smirked and put both his hands in the back pocket of his jeans, "You've run out of questions to ask me, have you?"

I froze on my spot as I tried to avoid his amused eyes. Why did it never cross my mind that he was such a perceptive person? I bit my lip and bowed my head in shame.

"Yeah, it seems like it," I kicked the small rock I found lying just in front of my shoe, "I really don't have anything to ask you. I'm just here to finish the three days I promised my boss."

He raised his eyebrows and his lips protruded. A wave of confidence flowed through me and I crossed my arms and fought his stare.

"To be honest, the only thing I need now is some pictures of the house and that's it. I don't even need to come here everyday. I could just ask you to take pictures of the house and send it to me."

He scrunched his nose up and click his tongue, "That's not very professional."

"Hence why I'm here!" I gestured at myself.

The wave of confidence flew as I finished my sentence. My mouth slowly hung open and all he did was stare at me with amusement. I began to play with my left earring and slowly offered him an awkward smile.

"Sorry, I was just—"

"Frustrated with me?"

My eyes widened and I was guilty how my mind immediately agreed with his theory. He seemed to sense what my answer was as he threw his head back in a fit of laughter. My eyes wandered from him then towards the workers who were glancing weirdly at the two of us.

"Uh, what's so funny?"

He trailed his eyes back to me and there was a warm feeling that settled in his eyes. I furrowed my eyebrows when that look tugged my heart.

"Your frustration with me was just so obvious, anyone could see it."

No, the others were busy watching you act like a crazy person. I bit my lip when I realized something.
