Jake's POV

Another field trip. I've been on too many, but this one is not going to be so great. My sister, Rayn gets to come too because it is an all school field trip. We get to go to a Griffins hockey game, at the Van Andel Arena, downtown. But for about half of the game all we get to do is go around and fill out pieces of paper with information on good health. Who needs that? I guess it's not to bad considering that hockey is one my favorite sports, behind a lot of others. I can still enjoy it; plus it'll be more interesting because my friend Tatar is coming and he's a big hockey fan. Tatar is a strange kid. He's hispanic, has curly, brown hair, and large brown eyes. Everyone thinks he's cripple because he has crutches, but you should see him when he plays hockey.

The bus ride to Van Andel Arena was long and boring, especially because Tatar was screaming and whooping every time we drove by an ad for the game.

"Why aren't you cheering, Jake?" Tatar said, overly pumped.

"Because one, we're not even there yet. Two, I'm not an idiot!"

"Well...-"

"Shut up Tatar."

"What? We're here!" Tatar jumped out of the bus running toward the stadium screaming and shouting, "Go Griffins! WOOOOOOO!!" We entered the Van Andel Arena with a bunch of screaming fans with blue face paint, finger gloves, and horns. It was also Tatar's 12th birthday, which means extra screaming and blowing on his new wonderful birthday present; a big, blue, blow horn. We walked around to every station to fill out as much of the sheet as possible, boring. From dental health, to dancing, to figuring out if you are hydrated enough.

Lot's of people walked by, but the referee's kept coming back every few seconds. Every time that happened, Tatar would try to eat my hoodie. I kept running into Rayn. Everytime she saw me, she looked away with that I'm-not-related-to-him move. She talked to me, once.

"How're you doing?" typical.

"Fine, Rayn."

"Just making sure, and don't get into any trouble." She says so sternly; like she knows what has happened on past field trips.

After walking around for an hour, we went to our seats, and Tatar insisted on getting Cole's Cheese Sticks. But, while we were in line, Tatar was acting really strange and kept turning around to see a referee behind us. The same referee that I saw at almost every station I went to.

"What's up man?" I said,"It's just a referee!" But, the fact that I saw him everywhere did creep me out a little.

The referee gave me an evil look after sniffing the air around us. 'Okay then.' He left, to then be followed by two other referees that seemed to have come out of nowhere. I decided that I was just seeing things because I drank too much coffee. We went back to our seats and sat down. Tatar shivering and looking around, which kinda scared me because he wouldn't tell me why or what he was paranoid about. A few minutes later, the game started. After a bit of screaming and yelling fans, it was finally halfway through the first part of the game, and some other kids decided to open their big mouths. A few of the others students behind us were started mocking Tatar. That REALLY started to tick me off!

"Look at this kid, shaking in his boots!" they taunted.

"Someone afraid of heights?!" another said.

"He won't stop shaking!" remarked another

"Let me try to stop him!" a snotty rich kid named Dean said as he slammed his hands on Tatar's head, causing him to jerk forward. I've had enough. Nobody makes fun of my friend. . ;except me. Dean always thinks he's better than everybody! It's time someone took him down a peg or two.

"Shut up!" I screamed. The world seemed to slow down. "Shut up and leave him alone!"

"Who do you think you are, toothpick?!?!" sneered Dean. The game was raging as a fight broke out.

"Jake Jackson!" I yelled causing the three referees to stare at me from the ice rink. The arena went silent. Which kind of freaked me out a little...

"Dude. . . don't say your name!" said Tatar.

"Why not?" I questioned him. My question was then answered. The three referees suddenly melted together to form into a giant three headed dragon, flying straight toward us! Then as I stood there thinking,Oh Crap!! What the heck just happened? Why am I at a hockey game? And I'm about to die!

Out of the corner of my eye, i saw a winged creature fly out of nowhere. It flew at me as the monster shot fireballs in my direction. He flew past me taking the hit, shaking it off, and charging at it again and again. Then I noticed, something strange, his claws started to glow golden. He slashed at one head cutting it off, then another, and another. It flew over to me as the dragon fainted.

"What are you?" I asked. Tatar answered my question.

"He's a Griffin!"

"I knew that!" I said. Remember my sister Rayn? Well, yeah. . . I suddenly looked around for her but then to my horror I saw her on the ice rink poking the dragon!

"Get her out of there." Tatar said under his breath.

"Why, isn't it dead?" I asked really nervously.

"Just get her out of there!" he yelled.

"Rayn, GET UP HERE!!" I screamed.

"Shut up, you idiot!" She replied," I'm just trying to figure out what it is!" She can be stubborn at times. As she kept poking at it, we ran down to the rink.

"It's a Hydra!" Tatar yelled," Get out of there!" Suddenly the headless creature stood back up and grew two heads for every one lost, a six headed hydra

"Rayn!!" I screamed.

The Hydra groaned as it grabbed Rayn. She screamed in terror. Then I watched and stood there in horror, as it swallowed her whole.
