"You're awake..",her voice was but a soft acknowledgement, lukewarm eyes searching for that hint of something she herself wasn't sure what. His heavy lids lifted, he stared at her without a reply—Without any sense of life residing in his glazed grey orbs.

The room was practically deserted except for the two of them—A single hospital bed along with the usual hospital equipments set up for the patients' monitoring. It was probably past eleven o'clock —Almost striking twelve with the dimness of their passive atmosphere overwhelming the lights emitting in the room itself—As if it was also desperately trying to shed a beam over the shadows. There wasn't a sound to be heard but the subtle beeping from the machine next to his bed and the shallow breaths he took as his grey orbs roamed aimlessly around the room—Taking details bit by bit while his vision cleared. Recalling what had happened earlier in his house, where he laid numb on his bed while blood dripped like tears when a partial blackness appeared—He began to realize that the girl sitting on the chair a few feet away from his bed,her eyes intently watching him with wariness and care, did not come in his memories.

'Who is she?'

'She's dangerous!'

'Don't trust her!'

'Dangerous! Poisonous!'

All at once, hissing and cursing, the voices bellowed in his mind—Reverberated through his skull and jolted his senses awake—Caused an irritated stir to clutch at his chest. He  drew a sharp breath, groggily attempting to sit up as his expression tightened —Eyes cold as ice.

"Ah,wait! You shouldn't get up yet,the doct—"

She stood from her seat to hold him back but in that instant, he roughly pushed her away with a piercing stare that left her stunned.

"Don't touch me". Voice as soft as a mere whisper yet held a hidden menace behind it unnerved her—Held her. Thin and lethal. Dangerous as if it could cut through her flesh and bone. He gripped the bed sheet over his body and met instantly with a sharp pain coursing through his system—Teeth gritted, his body instinctively flinched and he sank back down onto the bed, where after drawing a shaky breath, his eyes met with a pair of unfamiliar ones.

The girl seated near him couldn't be more than fifteen or sixteen—Her rounded features etched with a glow of youth he often saw on younger people. He wondered if he had that glow once; He doubted that. She wasn't anyone he knew either nor has he seen her before.

'Make her leave!'

'She's not welcome!'

'Dangerous! Dangerous! She'll cause only trouble!'

His breathing hitched—Head throbbed. Too noisy. It was too noisy. Why were there so many thoughts?

Letting out a groan, his hand holding up his head as he closed his eyes,he spoke —Breathless. Exhausted.

"...How long?"

"What?"

"How long was I out?"

She didn't answer immediately and when she did, hesitance laced around her voice.

"You were brought here yesterday—So,it's only been a day,I guess"

Then both said nothing. He allowed his sore body to slumped into the bed, that strong hospital smell filling his nostrils. Eyes still shut, he heard the faint sound of feet shifting before the voices came to plague him. They didn't seem to like his unfamiliar company at all—And whenever they were upset about something, they got louder until his own thoughts no longer existed.

'Make her leave!'

'Why is she here?'

'No! No!'

'Tell her to go! Now!'

'Dangerous! Poisonous! Shrewd!'

'Tear her to pieces'

'Yes! Destroy her before she harms us!'

'Destroy. Destroy. Destroy!'

His body tensed—His eyes shot opened. A strangled scream caught in his throat —Ribcages digging into the soft walls of his weakened heart. Pain engulfed him and immediately he forced himself to sit up despite it deepening the stab—His breath hitched. His hand clutched at the left side of his chest while the other went to hysterically press hard against his eye. A burning sensation clawed at his throat —A jolt of force slammed into him. Slumping forward, blood gushed out from his mouth and splattered all over the white sheets covering him.

Panic seized her lungs as the gory scene unfurled before her—Eyes widening she watch the dark haired boy began coughing up more and more blood as if someone had struck him critically from the insides. Blood painted over his sheets and clothes—She stood up almost instantly. Reaching out to help him get out from bed, hastily trying to compose herself but before she could, he lifted his eyes to glower at her. She froze.

"...don't... T-touch...me.."

"B-But—"

"....don't..."

His head throbbed. The voices grew more anxious. Louder.

'Too close!'

'Get her away! Away!'

'No! Keep her away!'

'Make her leave!'

"P-Please,let me help you—"

"I don't need your help! Get the fuck away from me bitch!"

His voice was raspy as the growl in his voice shifted into something rather different —It sounded as if he was quavering. As if he was scared. His messy dark hair was long enough to partially cover his eyes yet she could still clearly see the warning in them—Piercing as if it saw through things nobody else could. It chilled her to the bone. Yet,her hands still moved.

Soft. Warm. A beacon flaring off the shadows that bellowed him for years—She timidly but assertively reached for him. He wanted to glower at her—To stop her from touching him. From making the voices even more anxious. But—His body froze. Senses heightened from her touch. When she grabbed both hands, making him lift his gaze to meet her calming ones. He saw something he couldn't clearly read. Pity? No. It was different than that.

The voices drowned—As if her steadiness had plundered them  into the deepest, lowest part of the sea. Everything seemed so quiet it was so unnatural to him. He stared at her. Wide eyed. His vision blurred, body trembled in her grasp. She squeezed his hands in reassurance and limply he felt himself sink into her, head resting against her chest —Numb yet no pain laced around it. Only a warmth which both chilled and soothed him. He heard her drew a shaky breath before urgent beeping came from the monitoring machine and seconds later, nurses and doctors stormed in the room. He was still in her embrace—Still heard her breathing shallowly as he was.

He couldn't remember the last time his world was as quiet as it was now—How eerily silent it was. His lips curved, weakly. He smiled then frowned. There were no more voices plaguing him but a warning echoed in his head, one he couldn't deny or accept. One he wasn't sure of. He never heard his own thoughts before—This would be his first and something twisting inside of him, told him it would be his last.

And he passed out.
