A/N: Drastic change of writing tone and sudden time skips of events are deliberate. Notice slight change in characters as well for future chapters.

Have you ever seen the lights in someone's eyes flicker from time to time? Not because of hesitation or uncertainty but before an imbalanced state of explosion?

A hissing crackle of lighting before a vehement storm that'd raged on for weeks after weeks, leaving the soil it poured down on all but a mess of dampened mud and intrusive puddles. It was unexpected because before such an attack, the sky was shaded in perfectly clear azure with fine streaks of golden lacing the lightweight clouds and birds chirped while the breeze hummed through the air.

Then came the storm and it was all ruined. Those who stayed for its beauty now scurried away from the ugliness and destruction. With only the vacant feeling of abandonment left.

"Hurt yourself to protect others, but they'd never do the same for you"

"...But I'll be alone if I don't and...I don't want to be alone. It's scary all alone"

"Then you'll have me. I'll protect you"

"...But you're scary. Only I hear you, nobody else does"

"And only I hear you, nobody else does"

"....."

"It's alright. I won't intrude on you. I'll protect you even if I'm not there,I will be and when the time comes for me to take your place,I will"

"What'll happen to me then? Will I ever come back?"

"I'll let you go when it's safe outside"

"...You'll let me know when it's time to hide. Promise..?"

"I promise"

"You...Who are you?" The words were a slow, dark drawl as it escaped Levi's lips. His grey gaze cold and calculative, dangerously studied the girl whom he had woken up with. Outside the rain was mild yet persistently poured down in a depression of droplets from heavily grey clouds, the windows in the room fogged up in chilled mist.

The girl sat on the edge of her side of the bed with her back to him, she just finished putting on a plain shirt that allowed the slight colour of her undergarment to show. For a long second she simply sat there as silent as the swell of alarm in Levi's head.

The weren't any voices still yet something else nagged at him. What he didn't know but he let it rear up his guards as the depth of his own words sank into him.

'Who was she?'

This girl with the [H/C] coloured locks and fragile figure; Who resembled [Y/N] in almost every aspect he knew of but only just resembled her. Levi knew for a fact that this wasn't the same girl he had held and claimed a few hours ago. There was...something in the way her aura dimmed out the already light deserted room and how her posture reminded him of a nonchalant predator simply lying in wait.
